EloWan Posted January 5, 2025 Posted January 5, 2025 (edited) hi there, I am new to this whole topic and I always get this error, when trying to start a table: Runtime error ------------- Line: 60 Objekt(Object) erforderlich(required): 'Controller' no matter what... If I hit continue, I can see the table shows up for a split second and then it closes. I am running the VPinballX_GL64.exe as admin on a Win 11 machine. Maybe I got this wrong and all this vpx files are intended to be run in "digital cabinet" with real controllers and Displays and stuff? Was I too naive to think to run cool tables on my desktop PC and may even VR? I saw there was an iphone version as well (it runs the demo table very well) So maybe these tables are for iOS devices only? Cheers! Edited January 5, 2025 by EloWan
Cliffy Posted January 5, 2025 Posted January 5, 2025 There are at least two controllers, vpinmame and b2s server. You need to go to your vpinmame folder and runt both setup.exe and setup64.exe and in both cases check the paths are correct and then click the install button for both exe's. This install the COM (activex) object for 32 and 64 bit To install the b2s server you just need to run B2SBackglassServerRegisterApp.exe in whatever folder you installed it and click register. For completeness you should also have FlexDMD installed, 1.9.1 is the current version. It goes in your vpinmame folder. Then run FlexDMDUI.exe and click the register button to install the dll's. This will also check the current versions of the dmddevice.dll's you have in the folder
EloWan Posted January 6, 2025 Author Posted January 6, 2025 (edited) hey wow - I just got the latest VPX version from git hub, there is not even a "vpinmame" folder nor all the other stuff you are writing about. Maybe you can provide information on where to get all the other files, you just mentioned? from what I read so far, I was thinking the vpinmame folder is for ROMs only, if a table need to have some. In my case, there is no setup.exe or setup64.exe an no such folder. I thought, I just need the VPX app and that´s it Cheers Edited January 6, 2025 by EloWan

You might want to start with Baller Installer and then manually update things later. https://www.nailbuster.com/wikipinup/doku.php?id=update_baller_2023 https://www.nailbuster.com/wikipinup/doku.php?id=ballerinstallv2204 VPX builds the table itself Vpinmame emulates the software that runs the "game" (roms) B2S Server runs the backglasses Dmddevice dll's link the table to score displays flexdmd runs custom created score displays for original tables that do not use a rom (scripted only) These are the main components needed to load and run a pinball table. It's more than just one element Edited January 6, 2025 by Cliffy
EloWan Posted January 6, 2025 Author Posted January 6, 2025 (edited) Yeah, I think this was the issue - I just got a part of the whole install downloaded here: GitHub Tbh I did not understand how to setup all the DMD stuff correctly - lets hope for the best. Do I need to update things now? Looks like I got like 8 Vpinball.exe files now... is there a preferred on to run?! Edited January 6, 2025 by EloWan
EloWan Posted January 6, 2025 Author Posted January 6, 2025 Oh man... I think this app is going to hate me... *cry* Now I get this error msg, when trying to run T2 Judgement Day: Runtime error Line: 3324 invalid procedure or argument : "RGB" - if I click continue, the machine shuts down, great -.- Any idea, what the hell this is=?
EloWan Posted January 6, 2025 Author Posted January 6, 2025 so I was testing another machine and this time, all keyboard commands/keys are workiung (insert coin, start,.. quit)- just not the "flippers" (left and right shift keys) man this stuff gives me headache and pain, pretty much nothings works !
EloWan Posted January 6, 2025 Author Posted January 6, 2025 (edited) oookay, so I did install the latest RC7 of 10.8 from the github - now the error "Line3324" is gone, but the flippers are still not moving. (same goes for Apollo 13) Other keys are working well... I was trying another table (Halloween) and it just works fine... The Addams Family table kind of crashed VPX completely, shortly after loading... so I guess some tables are just FYcked up?! unfortunately is Terminator 2 one of them, it seems Edited January 6, 2025 by EloWan

Grab the bottom 2 files in the artifacts window here; https://github.com/vpinball/pinmame/actions/runs/12640493472 Just unzip the dll's to the vpinmame folder and overwrite
EloWan Posted January 7, 2025 Author Posted January 7, 2025 (edited) Hey Cliffy, thanks for helping me out. I am sorry, but it seems I can not DL something from the site you linked. The last 2 "files" under "Artifacts" are not clickable for me. ah ok - had to login to github first Edited January 7, 2025 by EloWan
