Rgarriott Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 (edited) I have recently installed 10.8 and have VPWs police force working with POV set. I have downloaded other VPW games but they aren’t loading due to out of memory error. I have 16gb of ram but i thought that was sufficient. Any pointers? Edited January 3, 2025 by Rgarriott
Administrators Dazz Posted December 28, 2024 Administrators Posted December 28, 2024 Lower the texture size option. You probably have it on Unlimited. Try one of the others.
Rgarriott Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 Thanks Dazz. I tried that and its working. I also got updated ram of 32 gb and on default unlimited txtures it still says out of memory

Also make sure you're up to date on all your VP software, sounds like you have some catching up to do.

As far as updates i have just updated last wk to the latest versions on everything.
Rgarriott Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 Here is a couple screenshots, the game thats all blanked out is skateball. I have the textures at the lowest setting.
Rgarriott Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 So is it the graphics card thats the issue?

Are you sure you're running the 64-bit version of the VPX 10.8 application? The last screenshot seems to contradict that notion. For testing don't use the front end (popper), make sure you launch the table directly from the 64-bit VPX application, using the editor. Try both the DX and GL versions.

I downloaded both but am launching x64 straight from the app. I downloaded the regular 10.8 RC6 2037. Should i try RC6 GL 2037 only x64?

Rgarriott Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 (edited) i have downloaded the x64gl and things seem to be working. I went ahead and redownloaded the normal x64 and everything seems to be working on that also. Only issue I seem to have now is i lost my dof, i will reinstall my dof file and see if that works. I did notice also that the script button is grayed out and i cant view the code on some games. 19 hours ago, robertms said: I would. 21 hours ago, robertms said: Edited December 30, 2024 by Rgarriott

Script access on some games has to be unlocked by going to Table>Lock-Unlock Table (this is set by the table author).
Rgarriott Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 Thanks for the info. Any idea why my dof would go away?

DOF shouldn't be affected by changing the VPX application. You'll have to troubleshoot step by step. Make sure you're running the newest B2S Server and the DOF plugins are properly enabled.
Thalamus Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 (edited) DOF requires Db2s to be runnitng. That is working ? About the table you had that was "white". I've seen that happen on 4 tables of mine. I'm not sure yet to as what was the culprit. I've kept them for further investigaion so to speak, just, too busy there and then to check. I actually resolved it that time by downloading the table again. This all happened around the same time. Now I'm beginning to wonder if there was something odd going on with Winblows. In that I mean, I haven't experienced it since that period and a few reboots. What's your vpx video settings ? While your on it - show us the keys/dof too. Edited December 30, 2024 by Thalamus
Rgarriott Posted January 3, 2025 Author Posted January 3, 2025 All is good with the set up now. Just went through and made sure everything was updated and running x64 versions. It all looks amazing. Thanks for the help. I have always used the mjnet “y” front end but have started trying my hand at pinup. I have player pretty much going but with not a lot of confidence.
