dlo77 Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 I looks for an appropriate sub forum but couldn’t find so posting here. Basically just looking for some advice from anyone here. After much searching, reading and trying to learn as much as I can about this, I am hoping I can get a definitive answer (if there is one). My current setup is an ALP with the deluxe Buy stuff arcade back box 2.0 and a topper for a total of 4 screens (including the playfield). Also got the haptics upgrade and Cleveland solenoids for the audio. Want to do lights and DOF stuff but its a bit too daunting at the moment. Anyways Im using a i7-6700, 1660 Super GPU, 32gb RAM. I was resigned to playing VPX in 1080p at 60 fps until BSA released their screen update hardware. I bought the mounting kit and after much searching just got a 32 inch monitor that hopefully does full 4k at 144 hz for a decent price ( Pixio PX32U). I was originally planning to add a better GPU but my PSU wouldnt support it and Ive just decided to get a whole new computer. I am not computer literate at all, I just like playing pinball. After hours of trying to make sense of what Ive read about cores, threads, caches, VRAM and bottlenecks and trying to decide what setup is best I am back to square one. Basically I want to be able to flawlessly run the latest and greatest VPX tables at 144fps at 3840x2160 resolution with no issues with all the bells and whistles VPX settings enabled on the playfield. Im good with the other 3 screens at 1080. My question is: what is the most cost effective intel/Nvidia setup ( CPU, GPU, RAM, etc) that meets my requirements and most likely will for at least the next 3-5 years or so? I want to avoid paying for needless overkill, so The best value that meets requirements.Or is all of this somewhat subjective? Thanks for any insight, and thanks for reading.
