SecretAntelope Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 When pinup popper is in "attract mode" (or whatever it may be actually called), every once in a while I'll walk by my machine and see that the monitor's screensavers are on because the playfield, dmd, backglass videos have exited/crashed. It's still in pinup popper itself because the wheel exists and I can scroll - but no images/videos appear. The only way to fix is to exit and relaunch the front-end. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if there may be a badly encoded video that's causing the crash? Or perhaps something else? Thanks!
jestermgee Posted January 19, 2025 Posted January 19, 2025 Yeah, I ahve the same issues. Pinup is just kind of flakey as I ahve tried now for 2 years to resolve the issues I have, nothing works. I would love to see an update to the video player because it seems to me a memory issue is at fault or something because the situation is always the same. Switch on my machine, everything runs just fine, all screens play, all screens load into any table, noo pups crash, no video DMD screens quit, is all just fine.... If I leave the machine running for about 20-30 minutes just in attract mode (normal when you have a party or gathering) this is where issues start to occur (and you can bet I have read and tried every guides suggestions out there). In attract mode, sometimes the backglass is missing, sometimes the DMD. I have studied this and what happeens is the system switches to a table in attract, the video screens all show up as usual but after 10 seocnds, a screen player just crashes and dissapears showing desktop. This remains until next table, and all is playing just fine again. This is also not an "isolated table" as this will happen randomly to any table display. I have even switched out video files, no chaange. If I leave the machine running longer, the issue gets worse, eventually all screens just quit and nothing is showing requiriung a reboot of the software and then things are fine. Other issues that occur is the same thing loading into games after the machine has run for an hour, gane loads but then the DMD video quits, sometimes the backglass won't load. It is all related to pinup popper since as soon as I reload PUP, everythying is back 100% fine for the next hour. I really wish I had a fix as it's dissapointing when someone starts up a game and half the screens just dissapear but only a few people on the whole internet have posted about this issue and so far, not a single suggestion fixes any of the issues. I feel it is either a PUP memory issue or some kind of problem with VLC over time.
BTAxis Posted February 20, 2025 Posted February 20, 2025 Pinup popper is just really unstable, it seems. It's always crashing for me in the middle of a game. It typically doesn't last for more than a few minutes. I just play non-PUP tables because it's not possible for me to enjoy ones with PUP packs.

Yeah its a shame because i'd love to leave my machine on for an afternoon so people can play it but alas, after about 30 odd minutes in attract I will look over and the backglass screen has crashed... then the playfield screen will crash some time later then eventually no screens show. It's like some kind of memory issue, restart PinUp and it's all good again. I also have issues with some pup driven tables, not all, but some it will be fine for about 10 minutes then the backglass will just crash and no move videos. Same as you, some tables I ahve just had to revert to a B2S backglass because the PUP doesn't work. It all use to be fine a year ago under 1.4 but the 1.5 update is not stable and i'm finding myself playing far less vpin as a result, just hate walking up to the machine and seeing the desktop where there should be a vpin and I ahve now attempted every possible suggested fix you can imagine, nothing at all makes a slight difference.
jcopps Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Anyone find a way to resolve this? My Pinup Player was stable but is recently crashing after a few minutes of playtime, and I can't understand what changed.
