bushav Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Every week I eagerly anticipate new download possibilities. Tables, B2S, color DMD, front end updates, DOF. I’ve quit looking at other sites downloads because they became inundated with a few authors doing minor tweaks and bombarding the download section with their version of light and POV changes. it seems I’m getting the same action in the table section here. Is it just me that’s not liking this turn of events?
LynnInDenver Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 It's not just you, but this site at least isn't relying on that to look like it's still relevant like the other one is. Give it time, the other groups have stuff in the pipeline, and it just takes time.

Is it just me that’s not liking this turn of events? Keep in mind that people have real lives. Many of us have families. None of us here do this for a living. We all do this in our own spare time. It's definitely not going to go in that direction. The mods you are seeing are actually more than just light and POV changes. That author has been around a long time and has done some great full releases himself in the past. Mods are good for the community as they give variety in versions. That's why I created the VPURemx patch, so creators and release mods, but keep the original files relevant. Vice versa... original authors should be able to take the modders additions and apply them to their own if they so choose. On the other hand... the releases that you've seen all take a lot of time to do. Complete re-builds take time. Originals take even more time. With that said.... I can honestly say that there are several great releases coming up!
Jewer Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 I seriously don't understand the animosity I see (here and in facebook groups) when people chose to use the VPURemix patching system to update or give their spin on a table. It is the most unintrusive way to offer the community an alternative version of a table while still paying respect to the original authors, and recently, where they have been accompanied by cabinet POV files, which a lot of us are struggling to do on our own, I really think it is a great benefit to this community. Just my two cents.
bushav Posted November 7, 2024 Author Posted November 7, 2024 I didn’t fully understand that the Patch System was a way to keep the original script at the forefront while allowing modifications if you desire. That makes more sense to me. Thanks for pointing that out. This site is what keeps me updating!

I am also a bit unhappy about all the cabinet updates presented the last few weeks as i feel forgotten as a desktop user. I appreciate all the work of all the authors giving us our dreams back to life and i understand that there is a life next to vpx.

The only thing you can't is the ini as it'S made for cab.
Supergibson Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 In some cases, creators will do mass updates to their back-catalog of mods to bring them up to current standards. Then you see a flood of "tables" or mods from that particular creator. They may not be trying to flood the downloads but instead are just doing updates. As noted by someone else above, countless hours are spent creating these and countless more spent customizing and adjusting tables to their liking. It's great that creators have this platform here to share. So pick and choose what you like, update, download or don't. Your choice! If you have a cabinet for example, @LoadedWeapon 's latest batch of amazing side blades alone are worth a download (plus there are usually other lighting and image changes with those). They add awesome detail to some already incredible tables. I say, bring it on!

People don't have to share anything and if everyone had that attitude then we wouldnt even have this hobby. 22 hours ago, onedevotee said: I am also a bit unhappy about all the cabinet updates presented the last few weeks as i feel forgotten as a desktop user. These do work for desktop also just cant use the pov files but you can enjoy the updates just some might look off with larger sidewalls but they can be disabled at the top of every script. Try them out.. Edited November 9, 2024 by LoadedWeapon
