TempestTuber Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 Guys I'm brand new to Visual Pinball but I am slowly but surely learning. I figured out how to load a backglass and DMD onto my single screen setup. Unfortunately, when I launch the table, the backglass and DMD appear for an instant but then are overwritten by the table. If I do ALT+TAB in Windows, I still see that the backglass and DMD are working. It is as though they need to be brought up to the foreground somehow. Strangely, when I was first playing around with the B2S issue, I was able to get the backglass to show and stay visible, but the DMD didn't show. Not sure why neither of them stays visible while the table is there. Any suggestions?
Tikimaster Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 (edited) right click on your backglass to see the menu... be sure to set "form to top" Open your dmddevice.ini and check for this: ; virtual dmd stays on top of all other windows stayontop = true both are basic settings for Desktop. If your DMDext DMD is still behind and you can get it with alt-tab you can try to open the b2s menu again, click on "more" and enable windowpunch.. Edited September 28, 2024 by Tikimaster
TempestTuber Posted September 28, 2024 Author Posted September 28, 2024 (edited) Will try and update you. Thanks for the prompt response. ---- Well, the bring forms to top was enabled. I changed the stayontop to true. I think that gave me access to the score reels in a tiny corner at top left, but the backglass and DMD still didn't show. Windowpunch only worked for the DMD and not the backglass. Edited September 29, 2024 by TempestTuber
TempestTuber Posted September 29, 2024 Author Posted September 29, 2024 (edited) Tikimaster, I figured it out! And in the process I did a lot of tinkering on the side and learned a bit. I went to: Visual Pinball>Preferences>Video/graphics options, then in the Fullscreen box, I unchecked, "force exclusive fullscreen mode". Then after launching the table, unfortunately the backglass would not appear, but all I had to do was alt+tab to the backglass window, then alt+tab back to the table, and the backglass appeared next to the table! ------ Oh no! When the backglass is enabled, the table freezes, and the mouse cursor appears. When I alt+tab to hide the backglass, the table resumes and the mouse cursor hides appropriately. This is just cruel. ------ Ok, after some experience, it appears that this is an issue with the particular table. Other tables are able to work properly with a few alt+tab or other actions. I'm finding that each table has its own idiosyncracy. Edited September 30, 2024 by TempestTuber
