No ball loads on some tables

Hello,

 

I'm running VPX GL 10.8 and there are several tables that will load up and take coins, but when it says "press Start" and I press 1, nothing happens.  No ball is released and flippers don't work.

 

This is only true for some tables (i.e., Bad Cats, Roller Coaster Tycoon, LOTR), while others start up and play just fine.

 

I've tried a number of other keys, but I have no idea what to do.

 

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
