Lord Of The Rings Valinor Edition - 4 balls missing?

I can insert credits for LOTR:VE, and can hit the start key, but no balls enter the plunger lane.

While the game is in this state, the flippers do work and I can nudge the table until it Tilts.

 

The sound does play (its all intro music dialog whatever).  Scoreboard (DMD) above playfield works but of course is stuck at zero cause no balls.

 

I tried hitting F3 after seeing a suggestion for that online.  No such luck - after the ball search the game returns to attract sequence.  Starting it again displays the message "Four Balls Missing"

 

Hitting Help About shows: Visual Pinball v10.8.0 Beta Rev. 1975 051104c  windows DirectX 32bits

I'm wondering if you could explain this for people still having this issue.

 

 This issue can be fixed by going to:

https://github.com/vpinball/pinmame/releases

and selecting the latest release for your OS and architecture. Download, unzip into your existing VpinMAME folder replacing files, and run the .exe to update to Vpinmame 3.6 instead of 3.5
