LeanderQuest Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 Hi! My installation of VPX, tables etc. is up and running. I wanted to help a friend by sending him my folders and a lot of stuff works, but not everything. 1) Do you always have to run the pinup installer or can you just copy the entire vpinball folder and it will work? 2) We loaded setup64 and updated the paths for nvram, roms etc. to match his folders...what other entries need to be updated? I also updated dmddevice.ini...but his DMD is not positioned at 0 and 289 just like mine...but about x = 100 and y = 150...and the entire dmddevice.ini with custom colors and frames, glasses does not work although the path is correct. 3) Does VPX store data in the registry? I even exported Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Freeware\Visual PinMame and he imported it...what is stored there? Are ROM settings (volume, free play etc.) saved there or are those saved in the vpinmame folders and NOT in the registry? I don't want to manually set the rom volumes again.
Tikimaster Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 (edited) Some thoughs about moving. I had the pleasure to get a fresh windows 11 and had to move my installion. I use vpx, pinupplayer, flex, dmdext and pinbally. I am on Desktop only.. Step one: I used the installer of 7.2: https://github.com/vpinball/vpinball/releases/download/v10.7.2-366-f94da1e/Main.Download.Installer.-.VPX72setup.exe Point it to the same exact path, you had installed your version. Like D:\Visual Pinball. Install the old installer. It will set all reg entries you need for vpx. (right click stuff etc) Step two: unzip, unpack your old installation and copy over all files. Be sure to use the same path as you had before. Like D:\VisualPinball, D:\PinUPSystem and so on. Step three: Go into your installation files and register everything like you did when you installed it. Register VpinMame, FlexDMD, PinupPlayer and every component you use. If you have no path changes, there is no need to edit any of your old config files, everything should be ready to run after registered everything. Edited August 23, 2024 by Tikimaster
Cliffy Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 Don't forget b2s server as wherever you decide to install it you will need to run the B2SBackglassServerRegisterApp.exe
