Thanks very much for sharing!

Since I have other games than pinball running on my cab, the apron is not for me. However, your idea about the LED bars inspired me: I got a couple from Temu and added a sound-sensitive disco ball as well. I mounted the bars on top of my monitor and the ball behind the backbox, directly between the speakers (which may have been a mistake - it's a bit too sensitive at the moment).

Still, I kinda love the result (never mind the cab - it's still very much unfinished):

As opposed to the bars in your video, mine seem to work just as well with the cables plugged in - they simply charge while they work. The only downside is since they're under glass, I can't turn them off. So once I power down my cab and everything else goes dark, the LED bars will still happily flash along whenever someone makes a sound, which can be irritating at first. Small price to pay for the effect though. I think I paid like 8€ for the two LED bars and 17€ for the disco ball. Well worth it.

Glad you liked it 🙂

Here is the disco ball:

As for the sound bars - Temu tells me "this item has been discontinued" (which probably means they're not allowed to sell them anymore and that they'll probably give me cancer and irradiate the house at some point).

Here's a picture from my shopping cart though, in case anyone ever finds them again. They looked just like the ones in your video, with three buttons at the back. When you turn them off, the entire bar glows red, and when it's charging, six or seven bars go green while the next two bars up blink green on and off.

All the other similar sound bars I see on Temu at the moment don't have the segmentation - their LED light is basically a gradient. I see a few similar ones here on Amazon in Germany, but I'm not sure if they're the same. For what it's worth, here is a link to one. Note that a single one on Amazon costs more than the pair on Temu.

I did the exact same thing with the same LED bar in my 21.5" mini! Mine came from AliEx and is the version without internal battery.

I routed power (via stepdown converter) for the LED bar through the relay-controlled circuit that operates the cooling fan and audio amp so that it only operates when the rest of the machine is on. The next mod I might do to it is to remove the onboard mic from circuit and feed it line-level audio so that it doesn't trigger from external sound.

Definitely a fun bit of extra bling!
