I have screen tearing really bad on most tables when lights flash , i cannot seem to find an answer that solves the problem. I have tried doing any adjustments to graphics, screen, and vpx from any possibilities of a fix through these forums and google, and youtube. in hopes to solve this issue.

4k monitors, 8gb graphics, SSD

someone out there MUST know how to solve this issue please

so i pay to support this site and creators and no one can give me an answer to this problem???

Supporting this site monetarily is optional, but helps to ensure the wellbeing of the place where you get all this wonderful free content from ;) No one here guarantees support, but people will always try to help if it's something they're familiar with.

I get that you're frustrated, but screen tearing is not that common of an issue, and there may not be a simple one-size-fits-all solution. Typically "screen tearing" is a side effect of hardware synchronization issues. You weren't very specific about your hardware specs i.e. how many screens, monitor models and refresh rates, video cable types, GPU type and settings, video settings. At the very least make sure you set your playfield monitor to 'game' mode and set Windows and your GPU to output at the monitor's native refresh rate. Also ensure your VPX installation is set to match that same native refresh rate. Assuming you're running the most current VPX DX 10.8 RC4 64bit, try setting your VPX video settings to Vertical Sync, max frame-rate 1, max pre-rendered frames 1. Now run an offending game directly from the editor without any additional screens active, no backglass, topper or PUP pack, and see if things improve. It's a process of elimination, gradually start adding things back in and tweak to improve performance. If you continue to have problems despite everything stripped down, consider swapping or replacing your cables (invest in good video cables that support the refresh rate of your monitor). If you continue to need assistance you'll have to get a lot more specific with your hardware/software configuration, including screen shots of your video settings. Good luck with the troubleshooting!

so far, just changing to vertical sync has made it go away. so thank you for that help i much apreciate it... but,  what are the best settings for max frame rate and max pre rendered frames after this change?

1 and 1 are the most common settings. Vertical sync will follow your monitor's native refresh rate, which is all that your monitor can display smoothly. Virtual Pinball is not like other video games when it comes to video settings. Increasing your max frame rate beyond your monitor's capabilities is counterproductive, it will force additional video processing to squeeze the extra frames and produce unwanted artifacts. Just make sure your GPU Control Panel settings don't contradict your VPX video settings.

it seems my table runs the best with 0 and 0? very odd. when i put 1 and 1 , the first one changes itself to 24, and the tables run like supreme crap. 0 and 0 runs the most smooth ive ever seen with no tearing! hooray!
