makmak Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 Hi all, sth ugly happened to me, it seems my (very old) 3rd screen (DMD) of my cab has died 😞 (or maybe the gfx card, but all tests green or a drivers problem, but freshly updated, or maybe a f*** Windows-Update recently?). Until I get a new one , i wanted 'easily' switch to a 2 screen setup. But I dont get it. Setup of b2s server seems to work but no DMD Windows/Screen shows up nowhere when starting a table. (setting up my 3 screen system is quite a while ago...what did I miss? Thank you!
Tikimaster Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 (edited) You will have to create a new screenres.txt with screenresidentifier.exe backup your 3 screen screenres and create a new one for 2 screens. (If you miss the b2sDMD). https://github.com/vpinball/b2s-backglass/wiki/Dual-Screen-examples https://github.com/vpinball/b2s-backglass/wiki/B2SScreenResIdentifier Position of your dmdext DMD window is saved in your dmddevice.ini Table by Table and looks like this: my global settings: ; x-axis of the window position left = 28 ; y-axis of the window position top = 207 ; width of the dmd in monitor pixels width = 508 ; height of the dmd in monitor pixels height = 127 check the left and top values - do not use my setting - its for Desktop By Table Settings: [DUNE] virtualdmd left = 1511 virtualdmd top = 299 virtualdmd width = 299 virtualdmd height = 105 I am at one Screen (Desktop) so it is easy: Dune DMD will be shown on the upper left side for me This is tricky. Because you have to: A: Edit the setting for every single table - maybe with Search and replace in a good text editor or B: Delete every table setting and reconfig every table. Backup your dmddevice.ini to get the 3 Screen setting back. The first screen is your playfield. Backglass and DMD are oriented to the left upper side of your playfield. So If your Playfield is 1920 pixel in x axis, the next screen starts with 1921.. Edited June 28, 2024 by Tikimaster
makmak Posted June 28, 2024 Author Posted June 28, 2024 Thx for your help and links, sounds a bit like a lot of work, will try to understand next week (Thievery Corporation is in town 😉 ), thank you!
Tikimaster Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 (edited) If I am right, all you have to do is open the ini file, fill in the right settings and save. (backup your old one) You only have to see the dmd. then you can move and size it with your mouse and save globaly. my global settings: ; x-axis of the window position left = 0 ; y-axis of the window position top = 0 Will show the dmd on the upper right side of the playfield. alt-tab to get it. move it with your mouse to the right into your next screen. size it, save globally If I knew the size of your two screens (in pixels) I could say more. Try it out and just ask here if it doesn't work. Maybe another 2 screener can help here, showing his setting. Edited June 28, 2024 by Tikimaster
makmak Posted June 29, 2024 Author Posted June 29, 2024 I have tried some things yesterday. It seems the backglass is on top of the dmd windows and cant get it on top of the BG. Toggling with Alt+Tab lets me see the virtual DMD window but its empty/black. With my old 3 screen setup i was able to see the actual state/points then. Seems like the dmd window isnt 'activated' at all?
Tikimaster Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 (edited) 1 hour ago, makmak said: Seems like the dmd window isnt 'activated' at all? be sure your dmddevice.ini has: ; virtual dmd stays on top of all other windows stayontop = true you can activate windowpunch in b2sserver settings. right click on backglass, in b2smenu click on more and activate windowpunch. save, restart.. your dmdext DMD now will cut a hole in your backglass and will be shown.
