MikeBalls Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 I tried many installs from Github but nothing seems to work on my PC Is there some tutorial for installing the software and installing the tables or is this not working on a PC? Thanks
Tikimaster Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 (edited) Here you go: https://github.com/vpinball/vpinball/releases/tag/10.7.3 Install the version mentioned on top of the Page: https://github.com/vpinball/vpinball/releases/download/v10.7.2-366-f94da1e/Main.Download.Installer.-.VPX72setup.exe and update it as described. then install the components you need See: https://github.com/vpinball/b2s-backglass/wiki/64bit-VPX-Pincab-Setup-Guide You may always ask things you do not understand here.. or use baller installer https://www.nailbuster.com/wikipinup/doku.php?id=baller_installer my humble opinion is, its better to jump in the water and install the components by hand. So you learn to configure the stuff step by step. Be warned. You need to be persistent to get started with Visual Pinball. You also need patience. I first installed vpx, then VpinMame, then played some time, then installed Backglass-Server, then DMDext for colored DMDs and finally PinupPlayer for PupPacks. Because the frontend, "Popper", which comes with the Baller Installer, is a bit too big for my PC, I decided to use the PinballY frontend. (DesktopUser) Edited May 19, 2024 by Tikimaster
MikeBalls Posted May 20, 2024 Author Posted May 20, 2024 But the Question is do i need to install all of this components because i am using only one screen? This tutorial seems easy to use. Virtual Pinball In 2024 - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIsowrFRoWg&t=629s
tmpc Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 I agree with every thing Tikimaster said. I started this eight years ago and gave up because i did not understand all of this. After looking at all the cool tables i said i want to do this and after reading and asking questions i learned one thing at a time and got it working. It was a steep learning curve but worth it in the end. When i rebuilt my cabinet recently i used the Baller installer and understood what it was doing because of my previous experience learning Visual pinball. Now i know where all the files go and do. With all the new tables being released lately this is an awesome hobby. When you get this working you will want to build a cabinet and that was coolest thing for me. The videos by Rudy like the one you linked above are awesome, i wish they were around when i started. Hang in there, you will love this.

Matter of Taste. You can play many tables using vpx and vpinmame only. For some tables you must have more components installed.
MikeBalls Posted May 22, 2024 Author Posted May 22, 2024 (edited) Is it safe to install VPX on my "every day use" PC or is it better to install it on a seperated PC? Edited May 23, 2024 by MikeBalls
