Hey everyone.

Im designing my second cab. My first was a 22" mini cab. This second one will be a 32" 4k playfield. I already have the monitors and pc, and am now on sketchup...

Maybe someone else has built a 3/4 cab or can advise.... Basically I'm trying to find a solution for the playfield glass as it's a custom length and width... and how that's secured. I see two options :

1 - normal solution (when at full size) - cut down the stock full size plastic channels on the cab edge, fabricate some metal rails, and custom make a lockdown bar - is this even feasible to modify stock channels?

2 - dropped in - have the glass dropped 'in' the cabinet slightly on ledges. Only downside is I want to put the pf monitor on a hinge so I can lift it, meaning any ledge above the screen would get in the way - but I could design more space either side resulting in a wider cab than the monitor. Prefer not to have this aesthetic

Does anyone have any recommendations? Thoughts?

I added a photo I found online of the dropped in solution.

Also is a photo of my new monitor setup with 32" 4k monito - WIP

Cheers!

Thanks @LynnInDenver, that makes sense. Any thoughts on the lockdown bar? I could either make one from wood or buy a custom metal one - I think virtuapin do them.

Also I'll need to custom make some rails to sit on top of the plastic inserts, unless those could be cut down too

The thing to know about the side rails is that they tend to be steel, and typically stainless, so they can be cut, but you'll need appropriate equipment (a miter saw works for this) and blades for said equipment.

A word of warning, I've seen some indications that the VirtuaPin lockdown bar comes with sharper corners than a regular lockdown bar. You can fashion one from wood easily, or if you're feeling up to it and have a 3D printer, there are models online for it so you can make your own that way.
