40 second delay after hitting start button in menu before t-arc wheel starts loading table

i had 1.5..just copied back to 1.46 but i still get a 40+ second time delay after i hit the start button until the wheel starts loading the table up.  Upon exit sometimes i get bad close..where the game sound loops a few times, or it plays eternally and the backglass stays on. this seems to act better if i change the full screen setting. i've always forced full screen. i don't know why it is hurting my system now.

Did I change a delay setting?? i don't think so.  I also have 10.8 32bit and 64bit. This latest set upgrades just to try Fishtales and Die Hard has broke so many things including altsound.
