The truth is out there... apparently.

 

After ~80 hours of work, I am happy to share my X-Files Serum colorization.  The colors I used work well with Siggi and Ejse83's table mods. 

 

To enable HD content, make sure to add the following to your DMDDevice.ini file:

  

[xfiles]
scalermode = Doubler

or 

[xfiles]
scalermode = Scale2x

Released

Version 1.01 now supports the Unofficial ROM Mod v3.0.4 from PinballCode.com.  I didn't even know this existed but was brought to my attention and it's a nice update to the ROM which includes skill shots, updated scoring, and bug fixes.  The modded ROM can be grabbed here.  Simply download it and drop the xfiles304.zip file in your vpinmame/roms folder, then change your gamename=xfiles304 in the table script.

 

If you just want to use the official Sega ROM v3.0.3, just use the xfiles.cROMc file.  Note that there are some updates to this file as well (missing frames, more transitions and some fixes), so update if you already downloaded the cROMc v1.0.0.

FYI, I'm currently adding and coloring the missing frames for the Unofficial ROM version 3.0.4.  Shouldn't take too long...
