About This File

"Shutting down one's pinball cabinet?" I hear you cry. "Why, the very idea! Tosh and piffle and other such exclamations!" you harrumph as you wrinkle your collective noses in disgust at so preposterous a notion.

And yet, there exist in each of our lives those sad moments when our beloved cabs need to be shut down once in a while. To make those occasions a little less traumatic, I've collected sixty callouts from various pinball tables that serve as farewell messages while your frontend is shutting down Windows.

The ZIP file contains:

- An AutoHotKey script that picks a random number between 1 and 60 and plays the .wav file with the respective number

- 60 .wav files

- A readme file on how to set the program up in your frontend (I'm using PinballX as an example)

- A list of the callouts, their numbers and what table they came from

I have specifically not included a compiled EXE of the AHK script, so your virus scanner doesn't report a false positive and alarm you. You'll have to compile your own EXE, or run the script as is.

I'm including the sound list as a separate download so you can see what you're getting.

Some sounds have been recorded by myself, but most have been converted from the Original Sound Packages found at http://altsound.vpin24.com . They have been normalized with Audacity so they all play at more or less the same volume level.

Since I have no experience with PinUP Popper: If someone would like to drop me a line and let me know how they would set up a program to run at shutdown in that frontend, I'll gladly include the info in the next version's readme file.

Similarly, if you feel I've missed an important callout, let me know. The script is super easy to expand.

(And finally, the terrible AI generated image is merely there as an attention grabber. Sorry about it.)
