Content Provider Itchigo Posted October 3, 2014 Content Provider Posted October 3, 2014 I may be scoring a cabinet to upgrade to a full size build. An idea I had was to use a 4:3 monitor for the backglass and (if it's possible) to get a piece of glass that will serve as a magnifying glass of sorts. Making my 19 inch fill the backbox. This would be a 2 screen cab like it's predecessor. Note: I do not have a backbox, and would have to build one. Is this possible? Is this practical?
Content Provider gtxjoe Posted October 4, 2014 Content Provider Posted October 4, 2014 Man, they use to make these. My uncle had one when I was growing up. Maybe you can find it on craigslist https://www.google.com/search?q=tv+screen+enlarger&espv=2&biw=1104&bih=791&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=3GkvVIzuH4u1yASLnYLgAw&sqi=2&ved=0CH0QsAQ#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=8p-_J_MBpIkbMM%253A%3Bas-W9VBavqMTwM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.rehabilitystores.com%252Fimages%252Fproducts%252F601.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.rehabilitystores.com%252FTV-Computer-Screen-Enlarger.html%3B540%3B540
Shadowsclassic Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I don't think you would like the results. We had some of these at the university where I worked. They have to be a fixed distance from the TV and they have a very specific viewing area. They also distort the image from slightly to OMG depending on your position relative to the magnifier. They might work slightly better on flat panels as we used old CRT's but I doubt it would be much better.
Content Provider Itchigo Posted October 5, 2014 Author Content Provider Posted October 5, 2014 Totally forgot about those! Thanks for the input.
faralos Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 wouldn't the curved screen produce weird distorted images?
