Hey !

Finally I can release my first version of TSPP :) Another big thanks to Terranigma and Retrocity, and all other peoples who tested my colorization!!

He takes me more time to accomplish, this game is pretty big and deep.... And I take some time off too :)

Some minor colors glitches can happen and possibly some missing scenes not colorize...(I didn't see one after all the tests) :)

I also colorized the Service Menu!

Hope you will like it!

Review and comments !

** Contact me if you need this colorization for your Pin2DMD display :) ** Also available for Real Pin!

Thanks!

JP

I see acreenshots of Treehouse of Horror.   Does it work with that table?  Or is everything for 'pinball party'?

It does work but nothing specific to THOH. As far as I know there is no custom rom/colordmd  for THOH. However there is a custom muted rom that pairs great with a custom altsound and pup pack that truly create the atmosphere to match the theme. IIRC it was @redbone @iDigStuff and @hawkeyez88 who made this great mod.

 So.

[Problem]

Still no colors.

-> I downloaded and extracted the 2.5.1 beta files to VPINMame directory.

-> checked that everything showed green ticks with 2.5.1 version, with FlexDMDUI.exe

-> I copied the .pac file into altcolor "simpprty" folder.

-> I started the table with .pac named:

     1. like here in the download.

     2. re-named pin2dmd.pac

     3. re-named simpprty.pac

=> Not working, other than orange, blue and purple colors.

Then,

-> I copied back the original ones I had before (pin2dmd.pal and pin2dmd.vni)

=> Working Colors in beautiful yellow etc.

Then,

I checked all tables with altcolor  files named pin2dmd.pac

=> All those tables only have orange, purple and blue DMDs...

Note: I didn't notice this before, I thought it was supposed to be like this 🤦‍♂️

So, my problem does not seem to be these simpsons .pac files,

but to get those .pac files to work for other tables as well...

All the older ones, like

.pal and .vni

.cRZ

.cROMc

work like a charm.

[Remaining Problem]

To get the newer .pac files to work properly!

Any help appreciated! 😀

Thank you for your help, but I don't understand...

1. FIrst I tried the ones from your link.

2. Then I tried the 2.5.0 ones...

3. Then I tried the "lucky" ones, posted here.

4. and today I tried the 2.5.1 betas from the last commends.

Which ones do you suggest I should use?

Use the 2.5.1 versión, no more Lucky needed. Avoid Who are saying use the pin2dmd dlls...with 2.5.1 no more pin2dmd...

Regarding PAC not working, open dmddevice.ini (where u have installed It) and see one line " VNI key=...." Do u have the VNI key? IS needed to decript PAC files.

If yes, check f1 in every table where not working if you have colorized checked.

No more misteries.

[SOLVED]

I did not have the VNI key... in the dmddevice.ini !

Now I have! Easy to find, if googling and knowing what to look for.
I have the 2.5.1 .dlls installed...

And it's WORKING!!!!

THIS WAS THE MISSING LINK!!!!
Thank you Gwyllion, for your patience and help! 😀👏

But your screenshot shows that you're on 2.5.0 release page and not 2.5.1

According to Jpajmo, 2.5.0 is required, not 2.5.1  Not to mention, there is no 2.5.1 on Freezy's Github.

Solved for me as well. The new Lucky update no longer uses a vni key so out of curiosity, I went to my dmddevice.ini backup and copied the vni key over to the new Lucky dmddevice.ini and now the new 1.0.1 update works. The Beta 2.5.1 was not needed.  My crz's, cROMc's as well as my pal and vni colorizations seem to be working fine as well.

Agree if you Will play on Desktop only, 2.5.0+new Lucky dlls IS enough. If you want to play VPin in the future using open-source, "royalty " lucky free DMD hardware, use version 2.5.1; no "Lucky" DLLs are required. Version 2.5.1 also works in desktop mode. I hope to be clear right now.

pin2dmd was always and will always be free for virtual pinball and screen display, only the colorizations for real pinball machines are up to the authors to charge for it. and the devices itself (real pin2dmd displays) need to be unlocked.

stop spreading misinformation, it doesn't help anyone and you fuel the fire that is unneccessary in this smal hobby niche! ;)

You're being dishonest; Lucky doesn't want to see open-source hardware working with PACs—like zeDMD. After all, isn't it true that a v2 version for PACs was released specifically to prevent them from working with "other" DMD hardware? Don't mislead people who aren't aware of this conflict. With every new PAC version released, there will be a new dmdext to bypass the DLL protections. CHEERS!

Plz, read again, "royalty " lucky free DMD hardware" , now thanks to dmdext 2.5.1, yes.

seems you are only repeating what others tell you...
for vpins, pin2dmd-colorizations have ALWAYS been free. the former vni/pal and the newer pac do not cost anything to you or anyone else.
Trust me, i do pin2dmd stuff for 10 years now, way before this bs discussion turned up.
pin2dmd was primarely a system for real pinball machines, not vpins.
It was made available for them, with the devices that were available at that time. devices that came up later never had a claim or right of playing those files.
It was made possible against the expressed will of some colorization authors, actually the people that made possible that people like YOU and I can enjoy colorizations.

however, this discussion should notbe part of this thread.
