I've been looking into ways to focus on advancing Virtual Pinball.  I've taken a look more into Future Pinball lately and there really have been no new advancements or movement with Future Pinball. Personally I no longer use Future pinball and haven't for a long while. I am looking to drop Future Pinball as a supported platform here on VPU.

Well.. there are attempts to improve physics of FP so I wouldn't say nothing happened and there are still folks building and playing the tables. Even some WIPs on this site. Not using FP myself so I don't really care if it is dropped or not, but how does dropping FP helps "focus on advancing Virtual Pinball"? You could drop The Big Bang bar and real pinball and arcade discussions then as well.

While I hardly "play" fp anymore I will admit! Sure would be a shame to remove it from here a lot of people like future pinball for what it is. Just my opinion

I don't think it should be removed just yet because it is still a platform to make pins. What kind of message are we sending to our future pinball builders? No we don't need more pins? As long as someone is out there making tables, then why would we discourage them from building tables. Plus with vp, if someone wants to use fp images and gets permission it allows them to build a table that didn't have resources before. So if it's not really harming us to have it, I don't see why it would be removed. Just think if we had no fp, we'd have no Jaws, WOZ, TBL, Knight Rider,  Aliens legacy, gone in 60 seconds all of which are on my pinballx. While it may not be as visually stunning as vp10, it is an easier way to script original tables and this is future pinball's strength. While we might be gaining more space for vp we'll be losing fp's originals. My 2 cents.

:(  I hate to disagree more Dazz Vpin is clonky, unreliable and the thing crashes and always has script errors, where FP runs smooth. It is your site and you can do whatever you want, but there are a lot of people who still like Future Pinball.  Future Pinball doesnt need roms, its graphics are much better but the gameplay physics are not so good. Of course I have not tried VP10 yet

I hope you keep FP. Working with fastdraw/Granit now scripting Wallace and Gromit. Compared to VP it is WAYY better graphics. It took me a while to get the hang of FP and I am not starting over on VP to learn it and its "FUNKY" scripts. If it is a matter of storage then you can always change uploads, and have FP tables link somewhere else, FileDrop, or MediaFire.

Expansion is always better than cutting back on things, but again Your Site.  ;)

Sorry my friend, but while I agree that FP has a place here your argument is weak. Visual Pinball doesn't need roms but can use them. Future Pinball can't use roms and that isn't a good thing.

Every game i ever played for VP needed roms. Some needed 5 roms.  I never made anything in VP. It uses different scripting. I never tried making anything in it. I tried running Unit3d pinball beta and it wouldn't load anything.

:(  Then When Pinball Labs gets its kickstarter then we will have new software.  Just for kicks i downloaded VPX.  :D  I am going to take a look at it and try to use it.

Ding ding, user error. I think most know, they (VP & FP) both use VBScript.

VP doesn't come with a built in "template\global vars" for the script to handle players/balls in play etc like FP out of the box.

Unit3D, got to have more than an $80 computer for this one.

Doesn't worry me whether you ditch it or not from here,  if it's about saving bandwidth then no brainers. Like said above, most of the FP leeching going on would be @ pinsim,

Generally speaking, to not have FP installed in your setup is to miss out on some fantastic originals. I'm a fan of the Steve Paradis/Polygame tables and rom has some good tables too. Both still released new work in 2015. That said, GoPinball and pinsimdb is the home for FP development. No one currently comes to VPU for that.

5 roms? A rom is a single zip file.  Inside that zip file could have hundreds of different files, but there is no need to unzip a rom.  As others above mentioned, FP and VP both use the same scripting with a couple differences. Nothing major. Just read the tutorials on getting PinMAME installed and VP and you should be fine. VP10 looks almost as good as FP and plays much better. I'd suggest to the FP table builders to give building in VP10 a shot.

BTW - Even with the results of this poll, I'll probably not remove FP support...  This was just a ploy to get you guys to stop leeching and get active in the community. ;)

Well DAZZ you got me to use VPX. So its good, now I can build games on both platforms. About LEECHING I don't leech so its probably someone else you have in mind. I still need to figure out texturing in VPX but i got the rest down. 1 more thing. I got SpiderMan for VPX from this site, and it crashed. SO why do 50% of the VP games crash, am I doing something wrong i get script errors. 1133 error. ? 1 thing i make sure is not have my games crash.

Well it says script error 1133. So the table was scripted wrong or missing files. It is the B2S, but I have the B2S.. Am i putting the B2S in the wrong file. Should it go into VPinMAME ? I know ROMS go in the ROMS folder.  Another table said missing SAM. SAM ? what the $%@# SAM are they talking about ? missing Sam. Sam from Lord of The Rings. That sam.

Well my game works.

Ghost, tables don't crash at all for me. Usually if a new table crashes it's because I'm missing a file or something. Back when I was building I always wanted to try 1 FPT to say I did it, but I haven't even used VPX yet. And leeches are people who sign up and never post, comment or anything. Doesn't matter if you're praising or complaining, at least that's participation. That's better than most do.

Good play Dazz. :P  Even from someone who only uses FP to "borrow" from..... I'd say keep it.

And Jackie's not crying. He's just happy...

1995? When do they think Jackie Chan's my career started? Just because Jackie Chan's my first HOLLYWOOD movie was in 1995 doesn't mean Jackie Chan I wasn't kicking ass and drinking beer well before then. In fact, Jackie Chan's my career started in the mid-70's!

"I had to do anything I could to make a living 31 years ago, but I don't think it's a big deal, even Marlon Brando used to be exposed in his movies," Chan said. "The porn movie at that time was more conservative than the current films," he said. Hong Kong citizens tipped local media that Chan was in the porn movie "All in the Family" in 1975, with a porn movie star who was famous at that time. The Hong Kong made movie, directed by Zhu Mu, was defined as a comedy.
