Pin2DMD loop error / OK

Hello,

 

I am trying to confirm if the Comm patch is working with my Pin2DMD board.

 

After patching my Mustang Pro rom with PinballBrowser, it indicates success, and I have hooked up a serial connection to the mainboard following the photos for wiring.

When I go to the Pin2DMD config menu, and test RS232, It says OK briefly and then displays: "Loop error".

 

@lucky1, I noticed in a prev thread you mentioned:
"The loop error is from the RS232 test because TX and RX from the RS232 interface is not bridged."

I was wondering if the symptom I have is expected behaviour?  I have noticed that my pallets are sometimes not syncing, but if the comm patch is working, I can keep digging into other pallet considerations for why this is off.
