Content Provider swisslizard Posted November 12, 2013 Content Provider Posted November 12, 2013 Hi guys Just played a few first games with WS2811 based led stripes working with DOF. They can even be configured with ini files, but with ini files it is at the moment only possible to address single leds in the strip. Since led stripes contain quite a few more leds than that what we had so far in our cabs, more advanced config options will be required to make them configurable with reasonable effort. This will take a bit of planning and work to implement. In addition the led stripes need a controller board. So far the controller board I have built is really just a prototype and will need some more work before it evolves into a controller board which can be of general use. The circuit is not very complex. Basically a Atmel microprocessor and a FT245R for fast USB communication. The firmware is in assembler and already very fast.So if someone is willing to help with the hardware and PCB design, please contact me. Stay tuned for more..... Regards Tom Edit: Here is a first demo video.

Content Provider swisslizard Posted November 13, 2013 Author Content Provider Posted November 13, 2013 No worries, I'll post a small video once I got the stripes connected to my cab. Right now they are connected to my development system which is rather uninteresting for a video.
slydog43 Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 wow I will have to add these to the cab, can't wait for a little vid of how it looks. DOF is such a great improvement, thanks SwissLizard!
Content Provider swisslizard Posted November 15, 2013 Author Content Provider Posted November 15, 2013 Demo video of DirectOutput controlled led stripes added to first post.
slydog43 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 where was the strip installed, its hard to tell. Great job by the way. I could not ever play VP without the forcefeedback now, you have corrupted me
Content Provider swisslizard Posted November 16, 2013 Author Content Provider Posted November 16, 2013 @Slaydog: There are 3 stripes with 32 leds each (plus the usual 5 high power leds) installed behind the acrylic glass of my backboard.
