Physics and Sounds Implementation

Recommended Posts

Just asking this question out of curiosity and ignorance more than anything else; Why is it that the realistic physics and realistic sounds (like ball rolling for example) are things that are scripted separately into a table rather than built into the VPX code itself? I'm basically wondering why a person cannot just build a table using the latest VPX 10.8.x and it already has the ball rolling sounds and realistic physics as default options? Or even better, a person could open an older table that is lacking those options, then enable them and save it.

My understanding is that it would break older tables to provide nFozzy physics in VPX directly, or they'd have to take processing in the main loop to provide for the switch and that could break existing nFozzy equipped tables. As for the ball rolling sounds, that I don't really know.
