beef279
Dump performed on a real pinball shaq attaq with pin2dmd.exe, firmware V2.32 installed. I made a dump of a gotllieb shaq attaq and open it in pin2dmd editor (v1.0.21.0 build 138) Only one plane found and the picture is staggered verticaly and horizontaly. And then only one color appears. Last time I do it with firmware V2.23 and pin2dmd editor v1.0.21.0 build 135 it works fine. Does pin2dmd editor works with specifics versions of the firmware ? beef279
To be more precise here is an example. Made on my pinball godzilla. The first dump was made with fimware 2.30 installed and opened in pin2dmd editor V1.0.21.0 build 138. https://postimg.org/image/rp5m2wkip/ The second is performed with firmware 2.32 installed and opened in pin2dmd editor V1.0.21.0 build 138. https://postimg.org/image/fjbtergf5/ You can see that there is a problem of picture. The other problem I encounter is with pin2dmd editor between V1.0.21.0 build 138 and build 135 You saw the dump of godzilla with firmware v2.30 opened in pin2dmd editor v1.0.21.0 build 138. Take a look of this one same dump but opened with pin2dmd editor v1.0.21.0 build 135. https://postimg.org/image/68g34utpz/ On build 138 you can only access at color 1, 2, 5 and 16 wich is not suited for data east / sega. On build 135 you can access all colors.

Content Provider lucky1 Posted August 7, 2016 Content Provider Share Posted August 7, 2016 Dump from real pinballs are only for data analysis purposes and unfortunately can not be used for colorization.

Content Provider gtxjoe Posted August 7, 2016 Content Provider Share Posted August 7, 2016 Do you want me to create a vpinmame dump from visual pinball and share it?
beef279
I don't know if a vpinmame dump will work in a real pinball. But the best way to know is to try. Could you send me a star trek the next generation dump to make test ? Thank you

beef279
How I open this dump file in pin2dmd editor ? It's a txt file
Content Provider lucky1 Posted August 8, 2016 Content Provider Share Posted August 8, 2016 You have to make a gzip file of it and open as animation.
beef279
It's ok I manage to open the dump. I'll need to change the display eprom on my godzilla because the versions doesn't match. After that I'll try to make a colorized version. Is there a maximum change of palettes authorized with pin2dmd editor ?
Content Provider lucky1 Posted August 8, 2016 Content Provider Share Posted August 8, 2016 If the animations didn´t change there is no need to upgrade the eprom. 255 palettes should be enough
beef279
I have to change the eprom of my pinball because the dump gtxjoe give me is display v2.00 and my pinball is v1.00. It is not a problem, I've got the tool to burn an eprom.
Content Provider lucky1 Posted August 9, 2016 Content Provider Share Posted August 9, 2016 As I said if there is no difference in animations it will also work.
beef279
As I can see there are some differences.
beef279
I tried to perform some color change only during attractive mode scene. With the dump I perfomed with an old fimware it's ok the change works but with the gtxjoe dump it doesn't work fine (colors change in the middle of one scene or didn't return to original). I check the keyframe number, I can see that for the same picture the number is sometime different between the two dumps. To be in the same condition than in gtxjoe I will change display rom and cpu rom wich are currently different. I'll let you know the result.
