  1. RetroFlair - BAM Edition (PinEvent V2, FizX)

RetroFlair - Bam Edition (PinEvent V2, FizX)

    Version: 1.5 (Nov 2022)

This is Rom's classic Future Pinball table the lets us jam to classic Arcade and Amiga tunes.

I have updated it to my BAM Edition and PinEvent V2 mod to use the newest BAM features to create an amazing real-time visual treat with cool new additions, as well as excellent new mechanical sounds from FLEEP!

See cool features such as the new PAC-MAN, Outrun, and Speedball modes. New mesh inserts, new RGB G.I. lighting effects, real beacon and spotlights, new shadowmaps, ray cast shadows, and more.

    FizX

This table has been fully updated with FizX for game changing new physics on Future Pinball. FizX uses techniques similar to nFozzy on VPX to completely change the physics for the flippers, slings, rubbers, targets, ball behavior and more that allows this table play much more realistically than anyone ever thought was possible on Future Pinball. You will be amazed at the difference!

    PinEvent V2

This table is also updated to fully support PinEvent V2 features (DOF, PUP SSF, PUP DMD). It has modern PUP DMD display options that can work with all setups. With it's crisp HD text and dazzling videos, it's sure to wow everyone who sees it.

    TABLE REQUIREMENTS (very important!)

All Visual C++ updates (to allow BAM to work properly)

an easy All-in-One Installer can be found here (reboot after installing):
    https://www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one/

Future Pinball and BAM (1.5-353 or higher) is REQUIRED to play this table!

for new installs, you can get a 2 in 1 installer at ravarcade’s site (link is below)
    https://www.ravarcade.pl/

****** Don't assume you have the latest BAM. If in doubt, update it! ******

    How to “update” BAM:

backup your entire BAM folder (located at Future Pinball \ BAM) download the latest BAM update zip file (not the installer), link is below install the latest BAM update (replace all files) copy the BAM.cfg, Reality.dat, Default.cfg from your backup BAM folder and replace the files in your BAM folder (these are your previous BAM settings) or install my “BAM settings” files from my FP and BAM Mega Guide (links are farther down)
    https://www.ravarcade.pl/download

TerryRed’s "BAM Settings" (proper default view for cabinets, better static desktop views, etc)

I highly recommend you install my "BAM Settings" files, if you have never done so before! I recommend you reinstall them AFTER updating BAM (the BAM update replaces them!) download my "Future Pinball and BAM Mega Guide" zip file (link is below) open the zip file for the setup you have (BAM settings for Cabinet.zip, or BAM settings for Desktop.zip) extract the files (BAM.cfg, Reality.dat, Default.cfg) into the BAM folder (overwrite the current files)
****** 4 GB patch is REQUIRED for both Future Pinball and BAM! ******

this table REQUIRES that FuturePinball.exe and FPLoader.exe (BAM) be patched to allow them to access 4 GB of ram (by default they can only access 2 GB ram)
You can get the app to patch them at this link here:

    https://ntcore.com/?page_id=371

I HIGHLY recommend you read my page that explains how to do the patching here (very easy!):

    https://pinballnirvana.com/forums/threads/4-gb-patch-for-future-pinball-and-bam-a-must-have.21537/

Future Pinball Video Settings and Editor Settings:

    - you MUST have the correct Video and Editor settings for this table to work correctly!
    - I have included a picture of these settings in the table's zip file

Run FPLoader.exe in BAM folder to play this table. DO NOT run directly from the FuturePinball.exe:

    - don't trust start menu or desktop icons, as they may point to FuturePimball.exe instead of FPLoader.exe
    - some people may need to run FPLoader.exe as Administrator at least one time for BAM to work
    - some people have needed to run FPLoader.exe in Windows 8 compatibility mode to prevent crashing

This has a FAQ with answers to most problems, and other helpful info, and has essential settings files:

    TABLE file: “Halloween - Big Bloody Mike (1.4 - PinEvent V2 - FizX).fpt”

this goes in your “Future Pinball \ Tables” folder
    CFG file: “Halloween - Big Bloody Mike (1.4 - PinEvent V2 - FizX).cfg”

this goes in your “BAM \ CFG” folder it gives cabinet users a proper cabinet POV it gives desktop users new static camera views (press C to cycle through them) it must be named the same as the table file to work!
    PUP-PACK: “FP_PE_HALLOWEEN_BBM”

this is only needed if using PUP DMD or PUP SSF this goes in your “PUPVideos” folder in the PuP-Pack folder, run the “Option” BAT file that matches your setup
FizX – High Quality Polygon Ball model (optional)

this is used to allow more accurate physics with FizX read the FizX section for more information before installing this file!
    ======================================

********** HOW TO PLAY THE TABLE **********

only use FPLoader.exe (this is BAM) in the BAM folder to play this table. DO NOT run directly from the FuturePinball.exe don't trust start menu or desktop icons, as they may point to FuturePimball.exe instead of FPLoader.exe run FPLoader.exe in Windows 8 compatibility mode to prevent crashing you MUST use the proper Video settings for FP (I have included them in the table's zip file) ALWAYS completely close Future Pinball after exiting a table, or loading another table Future Pinball needs to start “fresh” every time you load and start a table
    ======================================

    PROBLEMS?

Read the Install Instructions included in the table's zip file. It tells you everything you need to know, has a very helpful FAQ, and has lots of pretty pictures! Again, read the FAQ and the Install Instructions in the table's zip file!

    BAM Ray Cast Ball Shadows:

this table was created to look best with the new BAM Ray Cast Ball shadows this feature is ENABLED on the table script by default this feature requires a fast video card, and will use much more of your GPU if the table doesn’t run smooth, then your PC may not be fast enough to handle this feature (and you should disable it)
To disable this feature, you MUST “first” disable it in TABLE OPTIONS (in the table script), AND in the BAM menu “afterward” while playing:

open BAM menu (~ or Q by default), and goto "Addons - Configure Ball and Shadows"
BAM Menu - Light and Post Processing settings:

BAM Lighting and Post Processing settings are set by the table script and will ALWAYS override the user's settings this is required to ensure that all lighting is set correctly at all times
    Physics: FizX v110

    ======================================

Game not running smooth? Try the following:

disable RayCast Ball Shadows in TABLE OPTIONS "first", then disable it in the BAM menu while playing (Addons - Configure Ball and Shadows) change physics settings to a FizX Profile that uses 296 FPS, and change xml to fps=296 (in the "FizX - TABLE SETTINGS and CODE - START" section) don't use the FizX 8K or 1K ball model disable any SSAO options in BAM plugins menu (disabled by default) disable Reflections options in FP's Video / Rendering settings

  5. Junkyard Cats - BAM Edition (PinEvent V2 - FizX)

    Junkyard Cats - BAM Edition

Original Table by Brendan Bailey, 2012

BAM Edition, PinEvent V2, FizX mod by TerryRed

    Version 1.3, Aug, 2022

Thank you so much Brendan Bailey for supporting this update!

    ====================================================================

Brendan Bailey is one of FP's classic "original" table authors. EVERYTHING on this table was made by him! The layout, art, music, sounds, code. Such an amazing work of passion deserves to be updated to be enjoyed by a new generation of virtual pinball lovers!

I wanted to update to a classic FP "original" table to bring it up to my own modern day BAM standards, add my PinEvent V2 features, and completely update the table with FizX physics. The result is an excellent table that plays great with modern dynamic lighting, shadowmaps, ray cast shadows, and full cabinet support.

    ====================================================================

    FizX

This table has been fully updated with FizX for game changing new physics on Future Pinball. The old Future Pinball physics are GONE! FizX uses techniques similar to nFozzy on VPX to completely change the physics for the flippers, slings, rubbers, targets, ball behavior and more that allows this table play much more realistically than anyone ever thought was possible on Future Pinball. You will be amazed at the difference!

    PinEvent V2

    - don't trust start menu or desktop icons, as they may point to FuturePimball.exe instead of FPLoader.exe
    - some people may need to run FPLoader.exe as Administrator at least one time for BAM to work
    - some people have needed to run FPLoader.exe in Windows 8 compatibility mode to prevent crashing

  6. Blue vs Pink - BAM Edition (PinEvent V2 - FizX)

Blue vs Pink - BAM Edition (PinEvent V2)

Original Table by Brendan Bailey, 2009

BAM Edition, PinEvent V2, and FizX mod by TerryRed, 2022

    Version 1.4, Aug, 2022

Thank you so much Brendan Bailey for supporting this update!

    ====================================================================

    ====================================================================

    PinEvent V2

This table is also updated to fully support PinEvent V2 features (DOF, PUP SSF, PUP DMD). It has modern PUP DMD display options that can work with all setups. With it's crisp HD text and dazzling videos, it's sure to wow everyone who sees it.

    - added shadowmaps to most lights
    - added pre-baked shadowmaps (created by BAM) to playfield and plastics texture

    - new 3D model inserts
    - new pre-rendered insert textures
    - new bump maps for inserts

    - added BAM DF1 physics (updated settings in editor to better work with new physics)
    - added playfield blocker surface to prevent ball from jumping on plastics

  7. Star Wars: Death Star Assault - GALACTIC EDITION (PinEvent V2 - FizX)

Star Wars: Death Star Assault - GALACTIC EDITION

Original Ultimate Pro table by SLAMT1LT

    GALACTIC EDITION by TerryRed

    Table version: 1.1 - GALACTIC EDITION – PinEvent V2 - FizX (Aug 2022)

A long time ago (2005) on a pinball editor far, far away... this table started its long journey.

First it started as the Sci-Fi Classic example table in 2005. Then SLAMT1LT created his Star Wars mod in 2010, which then evolved over the years to his Ultra version, then his Ultimate version, then finally his Ultimate Pro 1.06 version in 2020. I then updated that table with my Epic Space Battles mod in 2021, and then for PinEvent afterward.

In 2022, I present my massive GALACTIC EDITION update!

This table has been completely updated and modernized to use the newest BAM features to create an amazing real-time visual treat that will blow you away! Almost everything you saw before has been updated to the max (or replaced) and many cool new additions have been added!

Epic Space Battles were just the beginning. This table is so big it requires you to patch FP and BAM to allow them to access 4 GB of ram, just to run it! I highly recommend you watch the "evolution" video below to see many of the new features.

    PinEvent V2

This table is also updated to fully support PinEvent V2 features (DOF, PUP SSF, PUP DMD). It has modern PUP DMD display options that can work with all setups. With it's crisp HD text and dazzling videos, it's sure to wow everyone who sees it.

    ====================================================

    - epic Death Star explosion effect!
    - animated characters for Darth Vader, Yoda, C3PO, Stormtroopers, Pilot Luke Skywalker, GNK Droid
    - VR room with spaceship hallway, planets, space, flying ships
    - Star Wars arcade game easter egg (behind the player)

Future Pinball Video Settings and Editor Settings:

    - you MUST have the correct Video and Editor settings for this table to work correctly!
    - I have included a picture of these settings in the table's zip file

Run FPLoader.exe in BAM folder to play this table. DO NOT run directly from the FuturePinball.exe:

    - don't trust start menu or desktop icons, as they may point to FuturePimball.exe instead of FPLoader.exe
    - some people may need to run FPLoader.exe as Administrator at least one time for BAM to work
    - set FPLoader.exe to Windows 8 compatibility mode to prevent crashing

    ====================================================

    INSTALLATION

    TABLE file: “Star Wars DSA - Galactic Edition (1.1 - PinEvent V2 - FizX).fpt”

    - this goes in your “Future Pinball \ Tables” folder

    CFG file: “Star Wars DSA - Galactic Edition (1.1 - PinEvent V2 - FizX).cfg”

    - this goes in your “BAM \ CFG” folder
    - it gives cabinet users a proper cabinet POV
    - it gives desktop users new static camera views (press C to cycle through them)
    - it must be named the same as the table file to work

    PUP-PACK: “FP_PE_SW_DSA_GE”

    - this is only needed if using PUP DMD or PUP SSF
    - this goes in your “PUPVideos” folder
    - in the PuP-Pack folder, run the “Option” BAT file that matches your setup

FizX – 8K Polygon Ball model (optional)

    - this is used to allow more accurate physics with FizX
    - read the FizX section in the Install Instructions for more information before installing this file!

    PinEvent V2

If you want to use any PinEvent V2 features (DOF, PUP SSF, PUP DMD), read the included install instructions in the table's zip file!

    ====================================================

********** HOW TO PLAY THE TABLE **********

    - only use FPLoader.exe (this is BAM) in the BAM folder to play this table. DO NOT run directly from the FuturePinball.exe
    - don't trust start menu or desktop icons, as they may point to FuturePimball.exe instead of FPLoader.exe
    - run FPLoader.exe in Windows 8 compatibility mode to prevent crashing
    - you “may” need to run FPLoader.exe as Administrator “once” for BAM to work correctly (DO NOT keep it set to Run as Administrator)
    - you MUST use the proper Video settings for FP (I have included them in the table's zip file)
    - ALWAYS completely close Future Pinball after exiting a table, or loading another table
    - Future Pinball needs to start “fresh” every time you load and start a table

    ====================================================

    PROBLEMS?

Read the Install Instructions included in the table's zip file.

  8. Sonic Pinball Mania (PinEvent V2 - FizX)

Sonic Pinball Mania (PinEvent V2 - FizX)

    Created by TerryRed

    Version 1.4, Aug - 2022

Get ready for the most EPIC Sonic pinball table ever created... and a pinball game like you've never seen before!

This has everything a Sonic fan could want in one table. Green Hill zone scenery, Sonic Loop ramp, animated bumpers, springs, item box, checkpoint, chaos emerald flashers, red star spinner, launch tunnel, rotating goal sign, moving robots, animated characters such as Sonic / Knuckles / Shadow... and even Dr Robotnik and his eggmobile which will follow your ball with it's spotlight... and much more!

This table takes full advantage of BAM's latest features with full dynamic lighting and ray cast shadows and shadowmaps to create a stunning visual pinball showcase!

What started as a quick BAM mod to update Brendan Bailey's classic Sonic table of 2005 (which was updated by SLAMT1LT in 2014), evolved into a complete overhaul to the entire table. Everything in the table has either been updated or changed, and I've added so many new things (new layout, art, models, lighting, modes, code, fixes, etc) that it's like a new table. Hence... Sonic Pinball Mania.

    PinEvent V2

This table is also updated to fully support PinEvent V2 features (DOF, PUP SSF, PUP DMD). It has modern PUP DMD display options that can work with all setups. With it's crisp HD text and dazzling videos, it's sure to wow everyone who sees it.

I'm really proud of what I pulled off with this, and I really hope you enjoy it!

For an EPIC video preview of this table in action with PinEvent V2 features, check out this video:

Thanks of course to these awesome contributors:

Brendan Bailey (PinWizKid) - created the original Sonic the Hedgehog table in 2005
SLAMT1LT - sounds, music, code, DMD, etc from his Ultimate mod in 2014
    Schlabber34 - new pre-rendered insert images
    FLEEP - new mechanical sounds
JLou - for FizX and support
All the FP lads at Pinball Nirvanna for ideas, examples, and support
Nailbuster - Pinup Player and SSF support
Ravarcade - for creating the awesome BAM and providing assistance with BAM features
Chris Leathley - creator of Future Pinball

    BAM Ray Cast Ball Shadows:

this table was created to look best with the new BAM Ray Cast Ball shadows this feature is disabled by default this feature requires a fast video card, and will use much more of your GPU if enabling it slows down the game... then your PC may not be fast enough to handle it (and you should disable it)
You can enable Ray Cast shadows in the BAM menu, or in TABLE OPTIONS in the table script

open BAM menu while in-game (~ or Q by default), and goto "Addons - Configure Ball and Shadows" Sharpness = 0.850, Dark Level = -1.0
To disable this feature, disable it in both the BAM menu and the TABLE OPTIONS

    BAM Menu settings:

BAM Lighting and Post Processing settings are set by the table script and will ALWAYS override the user's settings this is needed to ensure that all lighting is set correctly at all times.

    Physics:

FizX (new physics system for FP adapted from nFozzy techniques)

The Ultimate Tron Legacy virtual pinball cabinet experience...and only on Future Pinball with DOFLinx!

A video that shows off this excellent table with amazing DOFLinx cabinet effects can be seen at this link (in my cabinet) :

    Features:

    - amazing animated 5 RGB flasher effects
    - RGB undercab lighting changes based on characters, multiball, and game modes
    - gear motor operates with the Recognizer's movement
    - shaker motor and blower fan operates for cinematic videos, and many table events
    - 10 solenoid support for all mechanical devices (flipper, slings, bumpers, etc)
    - beacon lights up during cinematics and certain game modes

DOFLinx - "A powerful utility for cabinet owners to make the most of force feedback and lighting." - by DDH69

This Future Pinball table has DOFLinx commands added to it. This will enable support for pinball cabinet force feedback devices such as solenoids (flippers, bumpers, slingshots, drop targets, etc), RGB lighting and flashers, beacon, strobes, blower fan, shaker and more!

Requirements / Installation: Regardless of using this table with force feedback (Pinball Cabinet) or without (Desktop), you MUST install the current DOFLinx.vbs script into your ‘Future PinballScripts’ folder. Running the table without DOFLinx.vbs will cause an error. (FF_INIT)

Copy the *.fpt and .xml files to your Future "PinballTables" folder

DOFLinx.vbs is included with the DOFLinx install package. This file is NOT included with this table to avoid version mismatches, and future compatibility issues with newer revisions of DOFLinx.

    DOFLinx install package download:

The current download of DOFLinx can be found through this post at vpforums:

    http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=35852

It is recommended to use this table with BAM (Better Arcade Mode), in order to get the most accurate version of physics intended for this table. Copy the *.fpt and *.xml within this archive to your "Future PinballTables" directory.

    Cabinet Use:

For cabinet users running DOFLinx: This table will function with the in-game sounds for mechanical devices such as flippers, slingshots, bumpers, etc muted.  Instead, you will only hear your cabinets feedback devices for those actions. The rest of the games sounds will play normally as intended by the table author.

    Desktop Use:

For desktop users: This table will still function normally without the need for DOFLinx to be running or installed. You will however require the DOFLinx.vbs file (read "Requirements / Installation"). It will play perfectly with the original in-game mechanical sounds playing through your PCs speakersNote: Any DMDs or HudOverlays intended for desktop use were moved out of view so that they will not appear on the playfield (this table was modded for DOFLinx cabinet use).

    Night Mode:

For cabinet users who want to play at night with their cabinet noise makers turned off, this table can be toggled between Cabinet Use (noisy), and Desktop Use (Night Mode). Please consult the DOFLinx guide (included with the DOFLinx install package) for more information on how to use Night Mode.

  10. PinEvent V2 Guide and Files - DOF, PUP SSF, PUP DMD - for Future Pinball

PinEvent V2 Guide and files for Future Pinball

    (for TerryRed's releases)

I created PinEvent V2 so I could have a complete feature set and quality standard for my own table releases on Future Pinball.

    PinEvent V2 features:

DOF (direct output framework) for cabinet feedback and lighting Night mode (turn off DOF noise makers at night) Pinup Player / PuP-Packs PUP DMD for a dazzling modern display for scores, text and videos PUP SSF (surround sound feedback) and 3D positional ball rolling PUP Stream which can stream the PUP DMD display into FP directly no need for additional apps to control DOF or PuP TILT BOB support for analogue nudge optional PinEvent V2 global settings optional custom PinEvent V2 settings per table works in ALL modes (Desktop, Cabinet, VR)

What is PinEvent V2 used with?

All of TerryRed's PinEvent V2 releases for Future Pinball

PinEvent V2 features are all optional:

PinEvent V2 tables work in all setups (Desktop, Cabinet, VR) they don’t require additional files to be able to run you need DOF and Pinup Player installed if you wish to use those features

    Why was PinEvent V2 created?

Future Pinball restricted the usage of external applications with tables. This made it difficult to add DOF and PUP support to Future Pinball tables PinEvent V2 uses the new COM Extensions plug-in for BAM (made by Nailbuster and ravarcade) that allows Future Pinball to "directly" access DOF and Pinup Player and be able to use ALL their features! as a result I was able to make a new script / command standard for myself to add DOF / PUP / SSF features to any Future Pinball table

    What does PinEvent V2 do?

PinEvent V2 will manage and control DOF, PUP SSF, PUP DMD, PUP Stream, TILT BOB, and Night Mode features automatically.

    How PinEvent V2 Works

on startup, the table will check for PinEvent_V2_Settings.txt in the Scripts folder if it’s found, then it will use the user’s settings in that file to enable PinEvent V2 features if it’s not found, then it will use PinEvent V2 Custom Table settings in the table script if DOF or PuP are not installed, then the DOF and PuP features are disabled and their commands are bypassed (the table will operate like a normal Future Pinball table) if PUP DMD is enabled, it will verify if the correct PuP-Pack is installed if the PuP-Pack is not installed or is an incorrect version, all PUP features are disabled if PuP is detected and enabled, the PuP-Pack is started if DOF is detected and enabled, a DOF session is started the table starts shortly after the table starts (3-6 secs), any PUP Stream options enabled will appear on the table the table will now play and be able to trigger and control DOF, PUP SSF, PUP DMD (if enabled)

    PinEvent V2 Custom Table Settings

this option can be used to override settings in the PinEvent_V2_Settings.txt file this can be handy if you have a desire to have different settings for a specific table these settings are what will be used if PinEvent_V2_Settings.txt file can’t be found

    Pinup Player PuP-Packs

each PinEvent V2 PuP-Pack has multiple “Options” to choose from for every type of setup

    Thanks to:

    - ravarcade for the many updates to BAM that allowed this to be possible
    - ravarcade and DJRobX for the PuP Plug-in that allows PUP Stream to work
    - Nailbuster for Pinup Player, the PUPDMD Framework, and help with vbs code examples

    DISCLAIMER

Please DO NOT use PinEvent V2 code or the name PinEvent in your table mods

“PinEvent” refers to my own specific work that I created to be used for my own table releases only. Everyone knows that PinEvent = TerryRed releases. “PinEvent” has specific features and updates that represent my own quality of work please do not use the name “PinEvent” on any table mods, or when referring to pup or dof mods of a FP table. I don’t want any confusion. I will not give tech support to any mods of PinEvent tables or code I will only give tech support and add updates to my own PinEvent releases
    PinEvent V2 tables and mods

You are free to mod PinEvent tables, but please consider the following:

please wait a long while after release, and ask me first as I am always adding updates I may make changes to both the DOF config and the pup-pack in the future which will no longer be compatible with older table versions PinEvent tables have complex control code for PUP and DOF table mods may be used by some people in a cabinet with expensive feedback and lighting hardware. If you can’t test all of these features, then you could be allowing the table to cause unknown damage to the cabinet or hardware! DO NOT include the name PinEvent. I will NOT recognise any mods as “PinEvent” tables, and will not give tech support for them. I will direct ALL support to you! I worked VERY hard to create a standard of “quality” and “support” for my releases. Please respect that.
Please DO NOT modify my DOF configs for PinEvent tables on DOF Config Tool!

I have VERY specific DOF configs that are designed to work with PinEvent updates only! you can make your own DOF changes on your own Private config DO NOT submit changes from your private DOF config for Public consideration! (if there is a problem on one of my tables, please message me) I specifically added separate “PinEvent only” configs so that everyone is free to use the normal FP configs to mod other FP tables for DOF

You CAN use PuP and DOF code in your own table mods! (you don’t need PinEvent)

I have created a simple "starter" code to allow others to add DOF or PUP support to a FP table. The links for each are here:

  11. FX3 SSF (Surround Sound Feedback) PuP-Packs

Finally, Pinball FX3 joins the Surround Sound Feedback Club... thanks to the combined power of DOFLinx and PinUp Player.

    What's the big deal?

FX3 only plays all of its sounds through your front speakers. This means that all the mechanical sounds for flippers, bumpers, slings, etc will always be heard from your Backbox speakers.

    NO MORE!

With these PuP-Packs, you will now get mechanical pinball sounds playing from your surround sound channels (not your front speakers). This means anyone with a cabinet and a SSF setup will get the most benefit of cool 3D positional audio and feedback. Everyone else who has any kind of surround sound setup (cabinet or desktop) will also benefit from the surround sound effects!

Please Read the Description and ALL of the Install Instructions!

PUP SSF and multiple Sound Cards

Pinup Player SSF by default will only work with your primary Sound Card for those who use SSF on a secondary sound card, goto this link to learn how setup PuP SSF on the secondary device
    https://www.nailbuster.com/wikipinup/doku.php?id=puppack_other&s[]=ssf&s[]=sound

FX3 is limited with what it can do for SSF!  (NO BALL ROLLING SSF!)

FX3 does NOT allow for SSF ball rolling (like what you get with VPX and FP PinEvent tables) I am only able to provide SSF for the small number of FX3 triggered events that DOFLinx can make use of

    REQUIREMENTS:

    DOF R3++

    http://mjrnet.org/pinscape/dll-updates.html

You MUST have the "latest"  DOF R3++ installed! This is a requirement for the newer version of DOFLinx to function! Install it using mjr's excellent Installer that does everything for you. This is the most up to date version of DOF available.

if you only have SSF on your cabinet and no other hardware, then you will need a copy of directoutputconfig.ini for DOFLinx to use this is normally generated by DOF Config Tool, but if you don't have any cabinet hardware for DOF then you can't generate that file I have included my own example file for you to use if you need it. Simply copy the "config" folder from the "directoutputconfig (for SSF only users).zip" file to your DirectOutput folder
    DOFLinx v7.32 or higher:

    http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=12318

DOFLinx is what triggers any kind of feedback, lighting, or PinUP Player SSF functions for FX3 once it's setup and configured for FX3, you will configure your DOFLinx "PATH_FX3" in the DOFLinx.ini to point to the "FX3_PUPlayer" folder instead of the "FX3" folder the "FX3_PUPlayer" folder contains updated versions of the *.FX3 config files. These have been updated by me to include the PinUP Player triggers needed for the FX3 SSF PuP-Packs
****** NOTE: If FX3 gets updated, than DOFLinx and SSF won't work until DOFLinx gets updated to work with the new FX3. exe ******

    PinUP Player:

    https://www.nailbuster.com/wikipinup/doku.php?id=install_guide

    PinUP System updates:

    http://www.nailbuster.com/wikipinup/doku.php?id=release_notes

You need Pinup Player installed. This is required for the FX3 SSF PuP-Packs.

    =========================================================================

    PuP-Pack DOWNLOADS:

    FX3 SSF PUP-PACKS (DEFAULT TRIGGERS):

this 1st collection of PuP-Packs (DEFAULT TRIGGERS) will allow ALL Pinball FX3 tables to have SSF for the BASIC Pinball functions this includes Flippers, Slings, Bumpers, Drain, Ball In, Launch, Nudge Left, Nudge Right,  and Nudge Up each table will use the same sounds and same 3D positions for the effects these Packs is required for ALL tables these will be what you use of you are happy with not changing or adding anything more to the default setup for each table
NOTE: If you are happy with the Default SSF effects for every table using these PuP-Packs, than you don't need to download any other PuP-Packs!

    FX3_SSF PUP-PACKS (ALL TRIGGERS)

These need to be updated and completed by the community! (not meant for normal gameplay)

the 2nd collection of PuP-Packs (ALL TRIGGERS) include both the Default SSF Triggers and Sounds, but also includes all the extra TABLE SPECIFIC Triggers these include all the additional DOFLinx triggers for each table such as Drop Targets, Ramps, Orbits, Kickers, VUKS, etc these extra triggers are already added to each tables's PuP-Pack, but they are not updated for their sound file, description, or 3D position! this is where the community will need to help out (by updating these PuP-Packs), as there are currently over 80 tables to update!
Only use the ALL TRIGGERS PuP-Packs if you intend on updating any of them!

only copy and edit one PuP-Pack at a time the extra triggers are setup to use "numbered sounds" (1.wav,2.wav,3.wav,etc) so that you can "hear" where the trigger on the table is coming from while playing the table simply copy over the PuP-Pack... play the game...listen for the numbers while playing and note where on the table you heard it then simply edit the PuP-Pack for the table (using the PuP-Pack Editor), and update the Trigger (that uses the numbered .WAV file you heard) you will need to update the sound file needed for what kind of action it is (ramp, drop target, ball rolling, etc), the description, and the 3D position if you find that any of the triggers aren't ideal for SSF feedback (they are only used for flashers, etc), then simply disable them in the PuP-Pack Editor you can also update the Default Bumpers 3D position as well since each table will have them in a different location. Save your updated PuP-Pack
Once you have COMPLETED the PuP-Pack, you can upload the "triggers.pup" file (or the entire PuP-Pack if you have new sound files required) to this thread for others to use. I will then add them to a COMPLETED FX3 SSF PuP-Packs Collection when I have time.

    COMPLETED FX3 SSF PUP-PACKS.zip

this is a collection of the currently "completed" FX3 SSF PuP-Packs these include the extra "Table Specific" triggers that have been updated to include 3D position and Sound Files simply copy these PuP-Packs to your PuPVideos folder AFTER you already have installed the DEFAULT TRIGGERS! nothing is required for complete SSF available for these tables

    =======================================================================

USAGE: (Read and Follow ALL of the Instructions first)

once you have everything installed and setup, simply run DOFLinx and have it running in the background when FX3 loads a table, shortly after its loaded, DOFLinx will load the table's PuP-Pack and trigger SSF sounds while playing
    Enjoy FX3 Surround Sound Feedback!

Remember...the more the Community helps out with updating each table's PuP-Pack, the better the SSF experience will be for everyone!

    =======================================================================

Install and Setup of PuP SSF for FX3

This is the simple version of setting this up with no explanations:

install DOF R3++ if you don’t already have it (required for DOFLinx) update / install DOFLinx with the newest 6.30 or higher and have it completely setup for your system change your DOFLinx.ini file to have “PATH_FX3” point to the “FX3_PUPlayer” folder (that has my updated *.FX3 files that include PuP Events) be sure you have a slash at the end, or it won’t work!  “PATH_FX3=C:\DirectOutput\FX3_PUPlayer\” install and setup PinUP System if you haven’t already copy over the DEFAULT TRIGGERS PUP-Packs to “PINUPSYSTEM \ PuPVideos” run the PinUpPlayerConfigDisplays.bat and make sure your PUP’s “Music” screen is set to “Hide Always-Sound Only” turn off “Physics” sounds (or lower them to your preference) in FX3 in game settings (this is the FX3 mechanical sounds on your backbox, NOT SSF) when all setup and ready, run DOFLinx and let it run in the background when FX3 loads a table, DOFLinx will auto load the table’s SSF PuP-Pack

A video demo of how to install and setup DOFLinx:

For a video demo of how to copy and test the DEFAULT TRIGGER PuP-Packs, goto around 8:30 in the video:

For anyone who wants to update any of the ALL TRIGGERS PuP-Packs for table-specific SSF extras….

In the above video, goto  around 12:46 to learn more about how to edit the ALL TRIGGERS PuP-Packs.

    Or simply:

Copy over the ALL TRIGGERS PuP-Pack you want to edit…play the table…listen for the “numbers” and note where they came from while you play. Then edit the PuP-Pack and make the changes noted on this picture. Everything is explained in the picture.

  12. PuP-Packs ON TOP! (Use PuP-Packs on a single Screen or Desktop view)

    ***************** PUP-PACKS ON TOP  *****************

How to Use PuP-Packs with VPX, FP, FX3 on a single Screen Desktop view, or with Future Pinball in a cabinet

    by TerryRed

    WHAT’S THIS ALL ABOUT?

I made this post to provide some solutions to:

get PuP-Packs to work with Visual Pinball X, Future Pinball, Pinball FX3 on a single screen Desktop setup get PuP-Packs to work with Future Pinball on a multi-screen or cabinet setup get directb2s backglass to work on single screen Desktop setup get VPX, FP, FX3 to automatically be put back into focus after a PuP-Pack starts
THIS SOFTWARE IS REQUIRED TO ALREADY BE INSTALLED AND WORKING!

Pinup Player (and all related software) your PuP-Packs installed newest B2S Server (to be sure you have Nailbuster’s update included) for VPX PuP-Packs: VPX (latest 10.6 beta or higher), newest SAM VPinMAME, dmddevice.dll (dmdext aka freezy) 1.71 (32 bit x86 version only!) setup for PuP (dmddevice.ini) for FP PuP-Packs: Future Pinball, latest BAM, DOFLinx (for my Tron Legacy table mod and pup-pack), PinEvent (for PinEvent tables, only when NOT using PUP Stream) and a program to force FP into Borderless Windowed mode (details below) for FX3 PuP-Packs: FX3 cabinet settings for DMD repositioning setup for dmdext.exe or PuPDMDControl.exe (these use a command line to start an FX3 Pup-Pack with PuPCapture, as well as mirror the Zen cabinet DMD window to a nicer DMD window with pretty dots)
Click on the pics to see examples of what you can do:

Visual Pinball – Wizard of Oz: VPX table, using a directb2s covered by 8 PuP-Pack video and overlay layers, UltraDMD displayed on one screen

Future Pinball – Jaws Ultimate Pro: Future Pinball table, using a 5 PuP-Pack video and overlay layers, and Future DMD displayed on one screen

Pinball FX3 – Aliens: FX3 table, using a 3 layer PuP-Pack and (either dmdext.exe or PuPDMDControl) DMD displayed on one screen

VPX – MOTU: VPX table, using a 4 layer PuP-Pack, and PuPDMD scoring display

    SETUP THAT IS REQUIRED

PupWinPos.exe needs to be located where PinupPlayer.exe is installed the table and PuP-Pack already working together (starting and running with no errors / crashes) your PuP screen’s “default” positions must be setup in the corners of your screen and sized appropriately to allow for a complete view of your tables in each each emulator / game. (or use a different pinupplayer.ini file in the pup-pack folder for different sizes and positions per game. PuP 1.43 or higher is required) for single screen Desktop, your emulator / program MUST be run in Borderless Windowed or Windowed… NOT Fullcreen one of the PuP-Pack screens MUST be set to ForceON (this would ideally be the Topper screen) installing the “correct” pupinit.bat file into the PuP-Pack folder (only if it’s needed)
IF THE ABOVE ISN’T ENOUGH TO GET a PUP-PACK ON DESKTOP TO WORK…

adjust the commands or settings in pupinit.bat (only if needed for the specific table and Pup-Pack) changing the order of the PuP-Pack screens (rarely needed) use Pinup Popper (front-end) “In-Game Script” Button to force the pup-pack on top, and put the table in focus (great feature!)
DO NOT have other programs running that can interfere with pup overlays and VLC media player (graphic programs, image editors, anything that uses overlays, etc)

DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL SOLUTION!

This is an option that has worked very well for me on a single screen Desktop setup, and should work for most, but not all PuP-Packs.

    FRONT-ENDS:

I have been able to get all PuP-Packs (I have tested so far) to work from Pinup Popper using a Desktop Theme and a single screen setup. It works very nicely!
I can’t comment on how well this will work with other front-ends.

This does NOT come with a guarantee that it will work for everyone’s setup or in all situations!

Here is a video demo showing different pup-packs running on a single screen desktop:

…and here is another video that shows you how to setup Pup and the basics for how to use Pup-packs on Top.

UPDATE: Future Pinball, PinEvent PuP-Packs and PuP Stream (no need for PuP-Packs on Top with FP and single screen desktop)

recent updates to BAM has allowed for a MUCH better solution to display PinEvent pup-packs on a single screen desktop this works by displaying the pup-pack on a dummy plug monitor dongle (or spare input of your monitor) and using PUPStream how it works is the BAM pup plug-in (made by @DJRobX and @ravarcade) can stream the pup-pack directly into FP itself! this means that FP can run in Fullscreen and you can see the pup-pack on the desktop HUD, the apron, the playfield, the backbox in-game and in VR! since FP can run in Fullscreen, this means better fps, no hassles or need for PuP-Packs on Top or pupinit.bat files or Borderless Windowed Mode!
Consult the PinEvent Install Guide for more information on PinEvent and PUP Stream (highly recommended!)

    https://pinballnirvana.com/forums/resources/pinevent-dof-mx-pup-ssf-pupdmd-pup-stream-for-future-pinball.5901/

…and here’s a video demo of PUP Stream in action.

Before anyone asks…. NO you can’t have this with VPX. It’s not capable of doing this.

    =====================================================================

    KEEP CALM…..

Before you look at this post, and freak out thinking this a A LOT to do… understand most of this post is just the normal initial setup you would normally have to do anyway.

Once you are all setup, it only takes a few mins to get a Pack Pack working! Most of the time it’s as simple as:

don’t have any unnecessary programs or windows open on your desktop try the pup-pack with the table. If some of it’s video layers are blocked, then… set the Topper screen in the PuP-Pack to ForceON (add your own video to it if needed). If some of it’s video layers are still blocked, then… add the pupinit.bat file to the PuP-Pack folder. If some of it’s video layers are still blocked, then… try adjusting settings or commands in the pupinit.bat file use Pinup Popper (front-end) “In-Game Script” Button to force the pup-pack on top, and put the table in focus as a fall back solution

    LET’S BEGIN…

SOME EXPLANATION ON HOW WINDOWS Z-ORDER LAYERING WORKS…

When trying to run multiple different programs and windows all on the same screen space, it can get messy or confusing. Sometimes certain windows can get pushed back or hidden behind the program you are using. Sometimes an unwanted window may appear in front. This is typical for a Windows operating system.

PuP-Packs are made up of multiple layered VLC media player windows and PuP Overlays. These can be managed no problem by Pinup Player to have each layer play above another in order as it should. When there are NO other programs or windows displayed on the screen a PuP-Pack is running on, this all works perfectly. So in a multi-screen cabinet setup, this is normally not a problem.

So what’s the problem with using PuP-Packs for a single screen Desktop setup?

If you want to play a table with a Pup-Pack on the same screen, some PuP layers may get pushed back behind the game you are playing. Or the PuP-Pack may seem to work at first until your game window loses “focus” (you clicked out of it, or another program popped up, etc).

So what’s the problem with using PuP-Packs with Future Pinball on a multi-screen or cabinet setup?

Future Pinball uses two windows in a cabinet setup (playfield and backglass). The Future Pinball backglass window can obscure the PuP-Pack layers.

HOW DOES PINUP PLAYER MANAGE ITS VIDEOS?

Pinup Player has multiple ways it manages each VLC video player window layer it operates. PuP will do one of the following to a VLC window (depending on what is set in the PuP-Pack):

Show – this will use whatever settings are set for this screen’s “default” settings.

ForceON – forces the window to be the Top most window, and it stays on. A video is always going to be playing in this mode. When a new video starts or the current video restarts, the ForceON action happens and will force the window to be the Top window again.

ForcePoP – similar to ForceOn, except the vlc window opens and closes with each video played

ForceBack – keeps the video window always open, but under the other PuP screens. This can cause any PuP screen with this setting to get pushed behind your game window.

ForcePopBack – similar to ForceBack, except the vlc window opens and closes with each video played

So to put it simply…some PuP-Packs can work fine for Desktop setups as they are now. Other PuP-Packs may have some PuP layers pushed behind your game window, and they won’t show up over top of the game window.

    So Are We Screwed then?

At some point in your life you will be screwed… but that is not this day! I have solutions (with the help of a new program from Nailbuster) that work! These aren’t “official” solutions… but they have worked on all the PuP-Packs I have tried so far.

We will be making use of two files.

    PupWinPos.exe and pupinit.bat

    PUPWINPOS

This is a program from Nailbuster that I have included in the download. In the future this may be included with the Pinup Player install. It is a command-line only program, so clicking on the EXE will do nothing! It allows you to set almost any program or window’s layering position (Z-Order).

    ********** PUPWINPOS COMMAND OPTIONS **********
    PuPWinPos “wintitle*” “msg” “delaysecs” “active”
wintitle: can be exact or use wildcard notepad*

    PUPINIT.BAT

A nice feature that Pinup Player has is the use of a pupinit.bat file. Here’s how it works. When a PuP-Pack first starts, it checks for a pupinit.bat file in the PuP-Pack folder. If there is one, PuP will then run that file. Since this is a batch file, this is VERY handy and can be used for many things:

launch any extra programs that you need launched AFTER a PuP-Pack starts close any programs you need closed AFTER a Pup-Pack starts use PupWinPos to manage the Z-Order of the emulator, pup-screens, or any other programs being used use PupWinPos to automatically get your game back into focus

    =====================================================================

    LET’S SETUP EVERYTHING WE NEED!

    Setup PupWinPos:

PupWinPos.exe must be located where PinupPlayer.exe is installed. It’s a program from Nailbuster that I have included in the download, but in the future this may be included with the Pinup Player install. be sure PuPWinPos.exe is not “blocked” by Windows (use newest 7zip to extract it), and have it set to “Run as Administrator”!

Setup your PuP Screens, B2S Server backglass screen, and DMDs (for a single screen Desktop view):

You need to setup and configure all your pup screens so they are properly sized and positioned to allow a complete view of your table in every emulator / system. Here is an ideal way to set them up.

You can use my Reference images to give you an idea (my screen is a 4K TV). Just save these images, and temporarily set each as your Windows Wallpaper, and then position your PuP screens to match.

Adjust the size and position to your liking… but you MUST be sure to use the correct aspect ratios for each PuP screen!

Top Right Corner: Backglass, Other1-Backglass 2, GameInfo, GameHelp

(this for the main PuP-Pack Backglass videos)
(all these screens must use the same 16:9 resolution / aspect ratio)

Top Left Corner: Music, and FullDMD\Apron

(this is for any tables / packs that use a Stern-style PuP Score display)
(use the same 16:9 resolution / aspect ratio as the Top Right Corner screens)

    Top Left Corner: DMD

(this is for any table / packs that use the PuP DMD display for scoring)
(use a 4:1 DMD ratio resolution to match the VPinMAME / freezy DMDs that display in the same corner)

Below Top Left Corner: Topper, Other2-Topper2

(this is for Topper-Under videos. Most of these videos are usually “Under” videos with a ratio of about 3.4:1)
(place this just under the DMD Screen)

PinupPlayer.ini (and custom layouts for each Pup-Pack)

The PinUpPlayer.ini file is where all your Pinup Player screens settings for size / position / rotation are stored. The “default” PinUpPlayer.ini is located where PinupPlayer.exe is. This is what all PuP-Packs use for reference by default.

However, a new feature as of PuP 1.43 allows you to have a different PinUpPlayer.ini used for each PuP-Pack! This means you can have different size and positions for VPX, FP, FX3….or even for each table!

I recommend setting up all your PuP screens as a good default for everything and then backup that PinUpPlayer.ini file in a “PuP_Default_Displays” folder . Then if desired make a different layout for your Future Pinball tables that fits best and backup that PinUpPlayer.ini in a “PuP_FP_Displays”. Then do the same for FX3 and VPX, or specific tables, etc.

After you are all done, copy back your PinUpPlayer.ini from “PuP_Default_Displays” to where PinupPlayer.exe is located (and replace the file there).

To use a different PinUpPlayer.ini for each PuP-Pack, you simply copy your desired PinUpPlayer.ini to the PuP-Pack folder. When the PuP-Pack is run, it will use the PinUpPlayer.ini file in the PuP-Pack folder if one exists. Too easy!

    directb2s files:

    – it’s also a good idea to setup your B2S Server settings so that the directb2s Backglass size and position match that of the Top Right Corner PuP Screens. (for tables like WOZ that use both Pup-Pack and directb2s)

DMDs: DMDExt (freezy), VPinMAME, UltraDMD, VPX table DMD, FP HUD DMD, FutureDMD, etc

whatever DMD sized window displays you are using for scores should go in the Top Left Corner and match the size and position of the PuP DMD Screen

NOW CHECK ALL YOUR STUFF TO MAKE SURE IT WORKS FIRST!!!

It goes without saying, at this point you need the PuP-Packs, tables, DMDs actually working correctly FIRST before you do ANYTHING else!

Temporarily run your emulator / game in a smaller sized window to allow you to see everything that’s running (you don’t want any windows overlapping while doing this if possible).

Then load your table and various PuP-Packs and test them to be sure everything is working correctly. Once you have confirmed this, then you can move on with the rest of the setup.

    BORDERLESS WINDOWED MODE:

You MUST set your emulator / program to Borderless Windowed mode! (in your screen’s native resolution) If it is run in Fullscreen, the PuP-Pack video layers WON’T display over your game window! You can’t use Windows 10’s “fullscreen optimizations” either as that will not work properly if at all.

VPX and Pinball FX3 have options to set your Resolution and mode to Borderless Windowed.

(This setup step is NOT needed for Future Pinball PuP-Packs used in a cabinet or multi-screen setup, or if using PinEvent tables with PUP Stream!)

Future Pinball single screen setup Workaround…

Future Pinball does not support Borderless Windowed. You can only do Windowed or Fullscreen. Therefor you need to use a workaround. Once this is setup, you don’t need to do it anymore.

FIRST set your normal Video / Rendering options and Resolution to Fullscreen. Make sure you can run the game ok to be sure its using the correct resolution.

Now go back to Video / Rendering options and ONLY uncheck the Fullscreen option. It will most likely now display 640×480 for the resolution. DO NOT change your resolution again! (the resolutions settings are still good!) From this point on you don’t ever change your resolution. Click OK to save the settings.

Run a FP table to be sure it is running in the same resolution… only now you will see the ugly window borders. This is normal!

Now you need to use a program that will automatically force Future Pinball’s window to run in Borderless Windowed. There are multiple options that work fine. I have used these two options, and both worked very well.

    Borderless Gaming

    https://github.com/Codeusa/Borderless-Gaming/releases

    Windowed Borderless Gaming

    http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/

    …and other possible solutions…

    https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Glossary:Borderless_fullscreen_windowed

Have one of those options setup for this window:

“Future Pinball – © 2008 BSP Software Design Solutions”

Now each time your Future Pinball table runs, it should switch to Borderless Windowed mode (no frames or taskbar) and be ready to go for PuP-Packs!

OK, WE HAVE THE “MAIN” SETUP DONE!

    ====================================================================

NOW FOLLOW THESE EASY STEPS TO GET PUP-PACKS TO WORK!

Keep in mind that for VPX you may need to edit the tables POV for desktop view for it to look better with the PuP-Pack.

You also may want to remove the desktop view background image and set the colour to Black so it doesn’t mix with the PuP-Pack.

For FP you may need to move some HUD elements out of view, or in a better viewing position.

For using PuP-Packs with Future Pinball in a cabinet or multi-screen setup, go directly to STEP 3.

For using only a directb2s backglass with VPX, go directly to the DIRECTB2S ONLY step.

For everything else, start at STEP 1

STEP 1: try the table and PuP-Pack to see if it works!

run your table and the PuP-Pack should start. Click into the game window to get it back into focus. the PuP-Pack will now be hidden. Wait for a moment. if it works, eventually all PuP screens will pop-up over the game window. how long it takes varies by PuP-Pack. (usually no more than 30 secs) if you never see all the PuP-Pack layers pop up, then it isn’t completely working yet move on to STEP 2

STEP 2: use PuP-Pack Editor to set the PuP-Pack’s Topper screen to ForceON

required for ALL PuP-Packs for VPX, FP, FX3 (on a single screen Desktop) if the PuP-Pack doesn’t use a Topper, then set it to ForceON and add your own media to it to play as a Background video (it will keep looping during play) if using a PuP based VPX table that doesn’t use a PuP-Pack (Stranger Things:SE, The Leprechaun King, etc), you must FIRST disable the Topper screen in the table’s script before creating a PuP-Pack config and enabling the Topper screen there. You can’t have both of them enabling the Topper, or the table won’t work correctly. on rare occasion, you may need to change the order of the Screens in the PuP-Pack to have the Top most Layer be the “last” layer (such as the Overlay). Most Packs don’t need this if they were created correctly.

This will be enough to get “most” PuP-Packs to work.

After the PuP-Pack starts, click into the game window to get it back into focus. The PuP-Pack will be hidden. Wait and eventually all PuP screens will pop-up over the game window.

To have your game automatically come back into focus, move on to STEP 3.

FP and FX3 must do STEP 2 and STEP 3 (for a single screen Desktop setup)

STEP 3: copy a pupinit.bat file to the PuP-Pack folder (be sure it’s not blocked by Windows!)

required for Future Pinball (cabinet or multi-screen) required for Future Pinball (desktop single screen, except for PinEvent pup-packs using PUP Stream) required for Pinball FX3 (desktop single screen) can be helpful for Pinball FX3 or VPX focus issues when using a PuP-Pack or directb2s in a cabinet required for VPX WOZ table (to display table, directb2s, PuP-Pack and UltraDMD) may be needed for some VPX table and PuP-Pack combos you MUST use the correct pupinit.bat for the correct emulator or setup PuPWinPos options can be adjusted as needed in pupinit.bat pupinit.bat is a batch file, so you can add additional commands as needed for almost anything
When a PuP-Pack first starts, it checks for a pupinit.bat file in the PuP-Pack folder. If there is one, PuP will then run that file. The pupinit.bat will use PupWinPos to manage the Z-Order of the emulator, pup-screens, or any other programs being used. Then it will automatically get your game back into focus.

DIRECTB2S ONLY: for displaying only a directb2s with a table that has no PuP-Pack

copy pupinit.bat (from pupinit_vp.zip) to the empty PuP-Pack folder for your table (be sure it’s not blocked by Windows!) use the PuP-Pack Editor to create a pup-pack for that table you don’t need to configure any screens as you aren’t actually using any of them  we only need the pup-pack to start pupinit.bat if you want to use the Topper screen to display your own media, you can do that.
This option will run the pupinit.bat file after the pup-pack starts. All it will do is set the directb2s to “Top Most”, and keep VPX in focus. Once you see the directb2s appear over the VPX window, you can start playing.

    =====================================================================

HOW IT ALL WORKS! (AFTER STEP 3 IS DONE):

Run your table like normal (however needed for the specific emulator and the PuP-Pack to run). When the PuP-Pack starts, you will see the Pup-Pack pop up. Then shortly after that the game is automatically put back into focus and the pup-pack will be hidden. Don’t do anything and wait for a moment! After several seconds (this varies per pup-pack, can be up to 30 secs) you should eventually see all layers of the PuP-Pack appear over the game window. At this point you can now start to play the game.

These are the PUPINIT.BAT files you can use (and edit as needed).

Extract the one you need into the appropriate PuP-Pack folder (use 7zip and ensure it is not blocked by Windows!)

    Future Pinball (Cabinets):                            pupinit_FP_cabinet_only.zip
    Future Pinball (Desktop):                             pupinit_FP_desktop_only.zip
Pinball FX3 (Cabinet or Desktop):              pupinit_FX3.zip
Visual Pinball (Cabinet or Desktop):          pupinit_vp.zip
    Visual Pinball WOZ (Desktop):                    pupinit_vp_woz_desktop.zip

Keep in mind, in most cases one of these files should simply work without any adjustment required.

However, the pupinit.bat file may need to have it’s options adjusted, such as the delay time. Full details on how to do that are in each pupinit.bat file.

    Depending on your setup:

your system performance can have an effect on how long it takes to startup tables / pup-packs the table may take longer to show up compared to the pup-pack (VPX only) your system may take longer to respond to PuPWinPos actions

    ========================================

    USING A FRONT-END:

I have only tested this with Pinup Popper.

What I have noticed (when running on a single screen Desktop theme with Popper) is that on some tables (such as The Leprechaun King), you may need to add more delay in seconds to the PuPWinPos commands (in pupinit.bat) to be sure they don’t activate until AFTER all Popper Screens are not displayed and also the PuP-Pack / VPX table / UltraDMD are completely loaded and running. Whereas if I ran it from only VPX directly this wasn’t needed (for me at least).

PINUP POPPER (front-end) “In Game Script” Button Option:

If all else fails, there is an easy option that should work for almost anything!

You can use Popper’s “In Game Script” Button to try to force the PuP-Pack windows “on top” and also set the emulator to “bottom” while getting it in focus…. and this can be done at ANY time while playing your game! (this works well with FP and VPX…but not FX3)

First be sure you have a button / key setup for “In Game Script”

Goto your “Popper Setup / Emulators ” Menu. Then Choose your Emulator. Now click on the Other TAB.

The pic below shows an example to use for Future Pinball on Desktop.

Enter what you need for the specific Emulator. You may need to adjust the delay timing depending on your system. Here are examples you can use:

    Future Pinball Desktop:

    @echo off
    cd /d [STARTDIR]
    start "" pupwinpos.exe "PUPSCREEN*" 0 0 0
    start "" pupwinpos.exe "*BSP Software Design Solutions" 1 0 1

    Future Pinball Cabinet:

    @echo off
    cd /d [STARTDIR]
    start "" pupwinpos.exe "*Backbox Display" 1 0 0
    start "" pupwinpos.exe "PUPSCREEN*" 0 0 0
    start "" pupwinpos.exe "*BSP Software Design Solutions" 0 0 1

    Visual Pinball X

    @echo off
    cd /d [STARTDIR]
    start "" pupwinpos.exe "PUPSCREEN*" 0 0 0
    start "" pupwinpos.exe "Form1" -1 0 0
    start "" pupwinpos.exe "Visual Pinball Player" 1 0 1

To use this feature…launch the table from Popper and wait for the Pup-Pack to load. Then press your “In Game Script” key / button, and wait a moment. One of the following may happen:

the pup-pack will be completely visible and the table will be in focus ready to play! the pup-pack will get pushed behind the game window. You can either wait for it to appear, or try pushing the “In Game Script” Button again to see if it returns right away the table may get out of focus and not respond to controls. Try pushing the “In Game Script” Button again This feature does NOT need a pupinit.bat file in the PuP-Pack folder to work! You can use it on any PuP-Pack at any time!

IT’S ALL EASY TO DO…. REALLY, IT IS….

Remember, once you are all setup, it only takes a few mins (usually less) to get a Pack Pack working on a Desktop single screen setup!

If some of it’s video layers are still blocked, then… adjust the settings or commands in the pupinit.bat to see if it helps. If some of it’s video layers are STILL blocked, then… use Pinup Popper (front-end) “In-Game Script” Button to force the pup-pack on top, and put the table in focus as a fall back solution find your significant other and give them sexy time. You spent too much time on Pinball tonight.

    CONCLUSION

Please keep in mind, I have only used this with launching tables from VPX, FP, and FX3 without a front-end.. or from Pinup Popper!

Please let me know how it works for you if you do try it with another front-end.

    FAQ:

Why do some PuP-Packs take longer to completely appear compared to others?

The length of the videos used during the pup-pack’s startup will determine when the PuP-Pack usually appears. (how long it takes the videos to start or repeat) Specific layers may not show until a little bit after the PuP-Pack appears.

My mouse shows up in the middle of the screen after the table and PuP-Pack are running. How do I get rid of it?

This is normal for Borderless Windowed and out of my control. Some programs such as Borderless Windowed Gaming offer options to hide the mouse when the program is launched.

I’ve installed the correct pupinit.bat to the PuP-Pack folder, but it isn’t doing anything.

Make sure you have PuPWinPos.exe not set to Run as Administrator. Be sure the pupinit.bat and PupWinPos are not “blocked” by Windows! Also be sure neither file was removed by Anti-Virus software or Windows Defender.

It’s also possible Windows may not allow the pupinit.bat file to run because of UAC settings. You may need to disable UAC settings for the file or reduce the level of your UAC. Honestly, if you are using this kind of software, you should probably have UAC disabled anyway, as it will be a big pain for you.

  13. ALIENS (FX3 PuP-Pack)

    ALIENS - FX3 PuP-Pack

    By: TerryRed

The first PuP-Pack created for Pinball FX is back again! This was also the first FX PuP-Pack to replace the in-game music with an awesome OST Music option. Killer Aliens, bloody ball drains, awesome music and SSF make for an explosive showpiece on your cabinet.

    Version 1.1: July 30, 2021

To be used with Aliens on Pinball FX2 and FX3

    Requirements:

    - latest version of Pinup Player
    - latest dmdext with pup enabled in the dmddevice.ini (and proper command line for dmdext.exe or pupdmdcontrol.exe)
    - table needs to be running in English, as the PuP-Pack uses the English DMD images to trigger videos and music
    - DOFLinx is needed for the SSF option

    Front End Media:

    - be sure your front-end is NOT displaying a video / image in the pup-pack area when the table launches (that may cover the pup-pack)

New options for 2 screen users:

Similar to my PinEvent releases on Future Pinball, I have included options for 2 screen users with everything setup and ready to go for the following monitors:

    4x3 ratio = 1024x768
    5x4 = 1280x1024
1x1 = 1080x1080, 2160x2160,etc (usually a vertical monitor using part of the screen for the Backbox)

    ****** Install the PuP-Pack *******

    - copy the ALIENS PuP-Pack folder into your PUPVideos folder

****** Run the Option BAT file in the PuP-Pack folder for your Setup ******

3 Screen or 2 Screen (16x9) users with a DMD:

    - setup your PuP "Backglass" display on your Backglass monitor
    - run the "Option 1 - Backglass and Topper" BAT file

2 Screen users with a 4x3 or 5x4 or 1x1 (square) ratio Backglass monitor:

    - setup your PuP "GameSelect" to fill your entire Backglass monitor
    - run the "Option" BAT file that matches your Backglass monitor ratio
    - run the table, when the PuP-Pack starts, position your DMD to fit nicely on the DMD section of your Backglass monitor

2 Screen 16x9 Backglass users (with no DMD monitor or real DMD)

    - for those users who only have a 16x9 backglass (and no DMD monitor or real DMD), there is no specific PuP-Pack option for you
    - this PuP-Pack was originally designed for 3 screen users, and there is no place set aside for a DMD on a 16x9 Backglass for this PuP-Pack
    - you can try using "Option 1" and position your DMD on the lower part of the Backglass, but it may get covered by the Pup-Pack's top layer that will pop up to play videos at different events
    - using the latest dmdext for the DMD with the "stay on top" option may help
    - if that doesn't work, then you can try Option 2, but this will result in a squished looking PuP-Pack and DMD

    ****** Topper Videos ******

    - for "Option 1 - Backglass, Topper" and "Option 2 - 2 Screen - 4x3 or 5x4", you need to manually enable the Topper videos (if you have a dedicated display for Topper videos). Use the PuP-Pack Editor and set the following:

    Topper - ForceBack

    - for "Option 3 - 2 screen - 1x1", the Topper videos are already enabled and positioned on the Backbox.

    ****** OST Music Option ******

    - to use the OST Music option, you need to manually edit the Pup-Pack (using the Pup-Pack Editor) and set OST Music to "Music Only"
    - in the Pinball FX2/FX3 sound settings, turn the music volume to 0 (this is global and not per table).

    ****** SSF Option ******

    - to use the SSF option, you need to manually edit the Pup-Pack (using the Pup-Pack Editor) and set SSF to "Music Only"
    - in the Pinball FX2/FX3 sound settings, turn the physics volume to 0 (this is global and not per table)
    - you need to install and use DOFLinx to trigger the SSF sounds

    ****** DMDExt and PUPDMDControl ******

    - you need to install DMDExt to monitor the FX2/FX3 DMD images to trigger the PuP-Pack video and music events
    - you can also use pupdmdcontrol.exe (which uses dmddevice.dll from dmdext) as some people find that works better
    - you need to enable FX2/FX3 cabinet settings, then enable the FX2/FX3 DMD (sized at 520x136) and position it somewhere so it can be monitored by dmdext and PuP
    - note that if you have the FX3 DMD positioned "offscreen", dmdext.exe or pupdmdcontrol.exe may not be able to "see it" and work correctly
    - you need to play the game in English so it will show the proper DMD images
    - be sure pinup is enabled in dmddevice.ini

    If using DMDExt.exe:

    - you may need to change the colour of the DMD to orange (in FX3 settings) to get videos or OST music to trigger

Example dmdext.exe 1.9 (or higher) command line for Pinup Popper:

    c: cd /d "C:\Visual Pinball\VPinMAME" start /min "" "dmdext.exe" mirror --source=pinballfx3 -q -d virtual --fx3-legacy --fps 60 --use-ini="c:\Visual Pinball\VPinMAME\DmdDevice.ini" --pinup PinUp\[GAMENAME]
If using PUPDMDCONTROL.exe (works better for most people):

    - if using pupdmdcontrol.exe, you will need to install and use the BMP files from pupdmdcontrol_alien_pupcaps.zip (attached to this post)
    - copy the BMP files to the "Aliens\PUPCapture" folder (overwrite the old ones), and be sure the dmd colour is set to default (which is yellow) in FX3 settings

Example pupdmdcontrol command line for Pinup Popper:

    c: cd /d "c:\vPinball\VisualPinball\VPinMAME" start /min "" "PUPDMDControl.exe" FX3 PINUP\[GAMENAME]

  14. Tron Legacy (Stern) - "End of Line" - PuP-Pack

Tron Legacy - "End of Line" PuP-Pack

    By: TerryRed

The first PuP-Pack ever created is back again! The End of Line PuP-Pack is the latest version that includes an awesome OST Music option that replaces the rom's music with stellar movie music in stellar quality that sounds so much better. Beautiful neon, dazzling visuals and awesome music make for a timeless pup-pack that is a great showpiece for your cabinet!

    Version 1.0: June 30, 2021

    System: Visual Pinball X

Table: should work with all VPX Tron Legacy tables

    Requirements:

    - latest version of Pinup Player
    - latest dmdext with pup enabled in the dmddevice.ini
    - Tron Legacy Stern VPX table (set to use trn_174h rom in table script)
    - VPinMAME set to "Use External DLL" (to enable dmdext), and Ignore CRC Errors (to use muted rom)
    - table needs to be running in English, as the PuP-Pack uses the English DMD images to trigger videos and music

New options for 2 screen users:

Similar to my PinEvent releases on Future Pinball, I have included options for 2 screen users with everything setup and ready to go for the following monitors:

    4x3 ratio = 1024x768
    5x4 = 1280x1024
1x1 = 1080x1080, 2160x2160,etc (usually a vertical monitor using part of the screen for the Backbox)
    16x9 = 1920x1080, 1366x768, 1280x720

    ****** Install the PuP-Pack *******

Copy the trn_174h PuP-Pack folder into your PUPVideos folder

    - no need to do anything else with the PuP-Pack, unless you are using the OST Music option (read more below)

    ****** OST Music Option ******

To use the OST Music option, you need to manually edit the Pup-Pack (using the Pup-Pack Editor) and set OST Music to "Music Only".

You also need to use the included "muted rom" to have the rom's music muted to allow only the PuP-Pack's music to be heard. Backup your original trn_174h.zip in VPinMAME folder, and replace it with the muted rom with the same name trn_174h.zip

    ****** Topper Videos ******

For "Option 1 - Backglass, Topper" and "Option 2 - 2 Screen - 4x3 or 5x4", you need to manually enable the Topper videos (if you have a dedicated display for Topper videos). Use the PuP-Pack Editor and set the following:

    Topper Underlay - ForceBack
    Topper Top Layer - ForcePop

For "Option 3 - 2 screen - 1x1", the Topper videos are already enabled and positioned on the Backbox.

    Enjoy this classic PuP-Pack!

  18. Tron Legacy (Stern) (PuP Edition, PMD 1.1) (do not use - out of date)

NOTE: DO NOT use this table, as it is out of date. Use normal VPX tables and newer PuP-Packs instead. This table is here for refence only.

    Tron Legacy (Stern) (PuP Edition)

PinUp Player Edition mod : TerryRed
    PinUp Player created by: NailBuster

VPX table created by: ICPJuggla, freneticamnesic (original FP to VPX conversion).
RustyCardores: Surround sound mod, new sounds added (where there were none)
DJRobX: Updated physics and code to bring table inline with VPX 10.4 routines. ROM-controlled GI and PWM flasher support. Prettier Ball.
    HauntFreaks: File size optimization

Other credits: Rom and GLXB (original FP table version), SLAMT1LT (Ultimate Edition FP version, and inspiration for this table mod)

To see the world's first PinUp Player VPX table mod, watch this video of it here in my cabinet:

PinUp Player is a program that lets you play any video file on your Backglass, Topper, DMD, or any other screen using VLC media player. These videos can be controlled through the table’s script, switches, triggers, lights, or other table events. This allows any VP, FP or FX2 (using DOFLinx for FP and FX2) table to have a Backglass or Middle Screen with full videos like Jersey Jack Pinball, modern Stern tables, or Heighway Pinball tables.
You can control the videos using direct PuP control through the table’s script, or you can use B2S Server and create a PuPB2S that doesn’t require any modification of the table (but with less control), similar to a normal B2S (but really easy to make).
This PuP table mod is not using the PuPB2S method (which uses B2S Rom calls), and was a complete mod of the table script. I created all the videos myself (1920×1080 for Backglass, and 1920×822 for Topper), inspired by SLAMT1LT’s FP version.
Since this is a rom based table. I have no access or control over any of the game code or actions. I literally made A LOT of new code specifically for PUP that works based on only triggers / switches from the game, and the playfield lights and neon ramp colour logic. It’s a miracle I was able to pull this off, as this works with most MB modes, as well as the jackpots, etc all having unique videos with titles, etc.  Because of this, I also wasn’t able to do anything for Sea of Simulation, End of Line MB,  or portal, as they all use White for neon ramp colours, and I have no way to differentiate them.

To use this table you will need:
    - VLC media Player "32 bit" only installed! (64 bit version won't work):   https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html
    - PinUp Player installed:   http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=38979&page=1
    - "Tron_Legacy" PuP videos should be installed to your "PUPVideos" folder.
    - there must be absolutely no files in the "PUPVideos\trn_174h" folder! (this folder is created when the table is first run, as is the Tron_Legacy folder)  That folder is meant for a PuPB2S (based on the table's rom). This table's "PuP mod" doesn't use the PuPB2S function, so if you have any videos in there meant for a PuPB2S, then you will have videos from both folders playing...and you don't want that!
    - ensure all files from PinUp Player are "unblocked". You may need to set PinUp Player Compatibility Mode to WinXP if you are running on Win7. You may also need to have PinUp Player "Run as Admin".
    Desktop users:

VPX MUST be run in windowed fullscreen! PuP will not be visible if VPX is run in exclusive fullscreen. When setting up PuP, size and postition both your PuP Backglass and PuP Topper so they don't cover the table.
    Cabinet users:
No Pinball X Topper or backglass "videos" can be playing when the table is launched and running. While it "may" work, having videos from PBX and PuP playing on the same screen may cause issues. Pinball X still image for your Backglass or Topper screen is fine. PuP will play over still images and B2S backglasses, no problem...in fact its encouraged to use a still image for the Topper background, as this PuP mod doesn't use any "Background images or videos" that are always displayed. You can run your playfield screen in Exclusive Fullscreen, just don't setup any PuP screens to play on that screen, as they won't be visible.

    Recommendations:
    - this table mod is designed to be used with both a Backglass PuP screen, and a Topper PuP screen. You don't require both of those however, in a cabinet for PuP to work.
    - you can have both the PuP Backglass and PuP Topper on the same screen if you wish. Just re-size and position them on the same screen so they don't overlap each other. You may also only use one or the other if you wish.
    - setup both your Backglass PuP screen and Topper PuP screen to "Pop-up enabled".  This will have videos pop-up and play and then close when finished.
    - note, that if you have a looping video playing (Topper, multiball modes) when you exit the table, PuP will continue to play this looping video as it hasn't been given a stop or disable loop command.

    Please note:
This table mod is using a PinMAME Rom, and therefor I have no control over what the table is actually doing. All I have done is create new code in the table script that will react to switches, triggers, playfield lights, Timers, and the Neon Ramp colours to play videos as a result of in-game events. While I have thoroughly tested this mod, there may be rare instances where a video may play when it shouldn't, or a video will stop when it shouldn't (mostly just Topper videos). This is usually a result of a ball drain's timing being off a little (with ball saver,multi-ball modes, etc). This is beyond my control, but if it does happen, it won't affect the gameplay at all. Once you have a normal ball drain or certain multiball modes active again, then everything should be good to go again.
This mod was a lot of work, but the results are just too damn cool! I hope you enjoy it!

Configuring PinUp Player's Screen settings for this table only (so you don't need to change PuP's default settings):
Since I don't think SetScreenex is mentioned yet in any of the PuP docs...I'll mention how I used it with Tron (PuP Edition) here.   In the table script near the top, you can find these two lines:   PuPlayer.SetScreenex 2,0,0,0,0,1 'Set PuPlayer Backglass to Pop-Up On <screen number> , xpos, ypos, width, height, POPUP PuPlayer.SetScreenex 0,0,0,0,0,1 'Set PuPlayer Topper to Pop-Up On <screen number> , xpos, ypos, width, height, POPUP   Screen number 2 = Backglass, screen number 0 = Topper.   Change the last digit to 0 if you want to disable PopUp for this table ONLY! (though Pop-Up is recommended)   Setting the xpos, ypos, width, height, to 0 will also use PinUp Players's default size and position if you don't want a different position and size for only this table.   Or you can comment out the entire line with an apostrophe to disable the command entirely (and use PinUp Player's default settings).   Also you will see these lines:   PuPlayer.Init 0,"Tron_Legacy" PuPlayer.Init 2,"Tron_Legacy"   If you don't want to use one of the PuP screens at all, just comment out the line with an apostrophe which screen (Backglass=2, Topper=0) you don't want to use specifically for this table ONLY! This way you don't have to change PuP's default settings.   All of the above is only applicable to a PuP table "MOD" that doesn't use a PuPB2S (like Tron Legacy PuP Edition). This is the only way to allow for this table to have its own user definable PuP screens config without changing PuP's default settings.

  19. TerryRed’s FFMPEG Video Converter Scripts

"Why are my playfield videos rotated when used in Popper?" "How do I convert all my videos to 4K, 3K, 2K, HD?" "How can I convert all my videos to PNG Images" "How can I rotate my videos...."

    ENOUGH!

This collection of FFMPEG scripts will convert all your videos to most of the needed formats that you would use in a front end.

Now its as simple as two clicks, and all your videos within a single folder will get converted! MAGIC!

These scripts can convert most video files to mp4 format:

    - original file resolution to 30fps, no audio
    - 30fps, no audio HD (1920x1080)
    - 30fps, no audio 2K (2560x1440)
    - 30fps, no audio 3K (3200x1800)
    - 30fps, no audio 4K (3840x2160)
    - rotate to 180, 30fps, no audio (original resolution, HD, 2K, 3K, 4K)
    - rotate to -90, 30fps, no audio (original resolution, HD, 4K)

You can also convert most of your videos and images to a JPG or PNG Image:

    - original resolution, HD, 2K, 3K, 4K
    - rotated 180 (original resolution, HD, 2K, 3K, 4K)
    - Images to JPG, PNG
    - Images to JPG, PNG (rotate-90)

I've included two versions of the scripts.

The "standard" versions which will run in one location. You will need to copy your media to the "Files_To_Be_Converted" folder, and then run your choice of conversion script. The conversion will create a new folder and place your newly converted media in there. (Your original files won't be deleted or modified)

The "portable" versions. You can copy the FFMPEG.exe and the required conversion script to any location where your media is. The conversion will create a new folder and place your media there. (Your original files won't be deleted or modified)

    FAQ:

"Can I convert to 60 fps?"

    - make a copy of the desired script you want to use. Edit and change the -r 30 to -r 60

"Can I keep the audio in my videos?"

    - make a copy of the desired script you want to use. Edit and remove the -an

"Can I convert to Portrait videos?"

-I'm sure you can but I don't have a portrait setup. Make a copy of the desired script you want to use. Edit and try different values with vf "transpose=2,transpose=2"

    USAGE:

Extract the zip to a location of your chosing.

    Standard Versions:

Simply copy your media files to the "Files_To_Be_Converted" folder. Then run the "convert to xxxx" BAT file of your choice. A new "Converted_To_xxxx" folder will be created (it is named according to the type of conversion being done). All the media files in the "Files_To_Be_Converted" folder will be converted and copied to the "Converted_To_xxxx" folder retaining their original filename. Your original media files in the "Files_To_Be_Converted" folder will not be deleted or modified! When the conversions are done you can move your newly created media to wherever you want. Afterward you can delete the "Converted_To_xxxx" folder if you wish.
    Portable Versions:

Simply copy the ffmpeg.exe and your chosen "convert to xxxx" BAT file to the where your media is located. Then run the "convert to xxxx" BAT file at that location. A new "Converted_To_xxxx" folder will be created (it is named according to the type of conversion being done). All the media files in your media folder will be converted and copied to the "Converted_To_xxxx" folder retaining their original filename. Your original media files will not be deleted or modified! When the conversions are done you can move your newly created media to wherever you want. Afterward you can delete the "Converted_To_xxxx" folder, the "convert to xxxx" BAT, and ffmpeg.exe file if you wish.
Thanks to NailBuster for coming up with the original Rotate180 script, and helping with getting these working nicely.
