<p>
	<u><strong>Changes are good.... Right?</strong></u>
</p>

<p>
	First off... If you have been browsing the site this morning you would have seen some new changes ongoing right before your eyes. I'm playing around mainly with the Downloads section and the way files are presented. If you see anything strange happening... Ignore it for now.<br>

</p>

<p>
	<u><strong>To Sub-Categorize Or Not to Sub-Categorize?  That is the Question.</strong></u><br>
	I'm debating on removing most of the sub-categories from the downloads section. For example move all VPX tables into the VPX section instead of breaking them down by design type, <abbr title="Dot Matrix Display">DMD</abbr>, <abbr title="Electro-Mechanical">EM</abbr>, etc. In doing this it will lump all games into a single category. I'll probably keep VPURemix, Pup-Pack Originals, Originals, and MODS in their own sub-categories. With this change in mind, I've added the ability to filter files by the first letter of the title. This way you can quickly jump to a specific game that you are looking for.
</p>

<p>
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="https://vpuniverse.com/downloads/monthly_2022_11/filter_alpha.jpg.721b82defdd6a39b0e90ad23ac11ceab.jpg" data-fileid="18490" data-fileext="jpg" rel=""><img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="18490" data-ratio="26.90" data-unique="5irbi20i4" width="1000" alt="filter_alpha.jpg" src="https://vpuniverse.com/downloads/monthly_2022_11/filter_alpha.thumb.jpg.5f5dcd1238c7329b973db393f09d21b6.jpg"></a><br>

</p>

<p>
	<br>
	<u><strong>Changes to File View:</strong></u>
</p>

<p>
	The first major change is to the File View and the way the file is displayed. Some changes already done include moving the "like" button back to the top near the download button. I am still working on this new view to streamline things, so expect changes to this layout as it evolves.<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="https://vpuniverse.com/downloads/monthly_2022_11/new_file_view.jpg.7a30f494a3a9fa90c02c0c0ff8f2b87b.jpg" data-fileid="18488" data-fileext="jpg" rel=""><img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="18488" data-ratio="50.20" data-unique="64l63n8f4" width="1000" alt="new_file_view.jpg" src="https://vpuniverse.com/downloads/monthly_2022_11/new_file_view.thumb.jpg.84a8fb9fe88313db52f55dac4143adec.jpg"></a>
</p>

<p>
	<u><strong>Beer Me currently not working in the new File View:</strong></u>
</p>

<p>
	"Beer Me" is NOT currently working in this new design. I paid a developer to create the "Beer Me" and need to request an update for it. It does still work by going to the users profile and tipping/beer me from there.
</p>

<p>
	<br>
	<u><strong>File tagging: </strong></u><br>
	With the changes to the downloads section. I'm hoping to start using tags more and will be able to build more dynamic lists and pages based on those tags. Tagging files correctly will become more important in the future.
</p>

<p>
	<br>
	These are ongoing changes that I am playing around with. If you see something strange; no need to report it as I am actively working on it. When in doubt clear your browser cache.

<p>
	<strong>NEW! FizX physics system reveal! (Future Pinball - BAM)</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Is it possible? nFozzy techniques adapted for Future Pinball-BAM?</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	What everyone thought was impossible has happened! Future Pinball is no longer bound to it's 17 year old physics! JLou and AnonTet (with contributions from ravarcade and Gimli) have used the power of ravarcade's amazing BAM to adapt nFozzy physics techniques (used in VPX)  to work in Future Pinball!
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>What does this mean?</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	- a complete physics change for the entire table
</p>

<p>
	- new updated dynamic physics adjusted in realtime during gameplay
</p>

<p>
	- no more <abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr> flippers (<abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr> flippers are GONE!)
</p>

<p>
	- no more wide flipper shots
</p>

<p>
	- fully accurate and realistic flippers (adjustable)
</p>

<p>
	- dynamic flipper coils and eos switch (no more on/off flippers)
</p>

<p>
	- micro flips, tap passes, drop catches, post passes, and other flipper tricks
</p>

<p>
	- live catch difficulty is adjustable
</p>

<p>
	- slingshots are no longer super sensitive (adjustable)
</p>

<p>
	- slingshots use new techniques for more realistic operation
</p>

<p>
	- ball has a real weight to it (no more balloon ball)
</p>

<p>
	- rubbers are all replaced, fully dynamic and adjustable
</p>

<p>
	- rubbers no longer send the ball flying everywhere
</p>

<p>
	- drop targets now have dynamic / scatter physics
</p>

<p>
	- bumpers use better models and act more realistically
</p>

<p>
	- optional higher polygon ball (8000+) for more accurate physics
</p>

<p>
	- optional higher fps settings for more accurate physics
</p>

<p>
	- more realistic physics and proper control overall
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	It simply means that now tables can be updated to play with more realistic physics overall in ways we never thought possible on <abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr>. You can accurately make your shots and aim more like you would on a real table.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Does this mean <abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr> can play as good as VPX nFozzy?</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I wouldn't go that far (VPX guys know their physics really well).... but this is a MASSIVE improvement to <abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr> overall, and I think "everyone" will be very surprised with the result compared to what they have come to expect with <abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr> physics. It can only get better from here.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I'm VERY happy to be able to add this new physics system to my own releases. I've already seen a huge difference, and their gameplay is much better as a result.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	For everyone who wished that my releases were on VPX.... you may no longer feel that way very soon when all PinEvent V2 tables get updated for FizX!
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Coming soon!
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<br><strong>Thanks to the following for making FizX possible:</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	- JLou and AnonTet for working hard on this for the last year. Your perseverance has paid off!<br>
	- ravarcade for making this possible with his amazing BAM and his support<br>
	- Gimli (the unsung <abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr> hero) for his physics contributions and DF1 examples over the years
</p>

<p>

<p>
	We apologize for the recent downtime on VPUniverse. We are experiencing some major growing pains. We have many new people entering the hobby and many many new contributors. This has all outgrown my expectations of VPUniverse and the server capabilities.  The site was maxing out connections to the database and causing the site to be extrememly slow. We have made several server upgrades during the downtime and so far so good. We will continue to monitor the situation and make changes/upgrades as necessary.<br><br>
	In the mean time, we currently have VIP downloads limited to 250 per 24 hour period and max to 25 simultaneous downloads. Most users will never hit this limit, but there have been several accounts identified that's been possibly causing database corruption/locking. This is just one of the things that I am currently monitoring as download sessions have been locking the database causing the server instability.  This is only temporary until we can determine the exact cause of the server issue.

	On May 1, VPUniverse experienced a problem with the database server.  This issue caused the site to be down for many many hours during the day while I was away at a pinball touranment.  Thankfully my server hosts were able to identify the problems and database connectivity issue.  Unfortunately, they had to roll back the database. <br><br>
	Basically anything that happened on the site on May 1; really didn't happen on the site. This includes new uploads, file updates, forum posts, new registrations, new subscriptions, etc.  If you purchased a subscription on May 1 or around; and have the email from the payment processors but your account wasn't upgraded.. Please let me know.

	<strong>What is PinEvent V2?</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I created PinEvent V2 so I could have a complete feature set and quality standard for my own table releases on Future Pinball. When you get a PinEvent V2 tables, you'll know exactly the features it will have and support.

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>PinEvent V2 features:</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<ul><li>
		DOF (direct output framework) for cabinet feedback and lighting

<p>
	<strong>What is PinEvent V2 used with?</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<ul><li>
		All of TerryRed's PinEvent V2 releases for Future Pinball
	</li>
</ul><p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>PinEvent V2 features are all optional:</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<ul><li>
		PinEvent V2 tables work in all setups (Desktop, Cabinet, VR)
	</li>
	<li>
		they don’t require additional files to be able to run
	</li>
	<li>
		you only need DOF and Pinup Player installed if you wish to use those features
	</li>
</ul><p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Why was PinEvent V2 created?</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<ul><li>
		Future Pinball restricted the usage of external applications with tables. This made it difficult to add DOF and PUP support to Future Pinball tables
	</li>
	<li>
		PinEvent V2 uses the new COM Extensions plug-in for BAM (made by Nailbuster and ravarcade) that allows Future Pinball to "directly" access DOF and Pinup Player and be able to use ALL their features!
	</li>
	<li>
		as a result I was able to make a new script / command standard for myself to add DOF / PUP / SSF features to any Future Pinball table
	</li>
</ul><p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>What does PinEvent V2 do?</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	PinEvent V2 will manage and control DOF, PUP SSF, PUP <abbr title="Dot Matrix Display"><abbr title="Dot Matrix Display">DMD</abbr></abbr>, PUP Stream, TILT BOB, and Night Mode features.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>I don't have a cabinet, or I don't use PuP or DOF. Do I need PinEvent V2 files or extra programs, if I just want to play a table that has PinEvent V2?</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	No. The new PinEvent V2 code allows the table to simply work for "everyone" like any other <abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr>-BAM table.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>

<p>
	=======================================================================================
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Why is there a new V2 version of PinEvent?</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Over the last couple of years, I observed what features were being used, and what wasn't with PinEvent 1.4. I wanted to refine PinEvent and remove unused features to make it easier for the user to understand, setup and use PinEvent tables and features.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I wanted to make it MUCH easier for myself when adding PinEvent features to tables, and I also wanted to add some new things.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The big thing I wanted was to make PinEvent V2 tables not "require" the need for external vbs / other files. The table will simply work like any other <abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr> table and work for everyone... but allow for extra PinEvent V2 features to be used as an option.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Just install the table, and it will work.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>What is new with PinEvent V2?</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<ul><li>
		 new PUP SSF table script code makes adding SSF MUCH easier (for me)
	</li>
	<li>
		 new TILT BOB key option, for those who use analogue nudge and a real tilt bob in a cabinet
	</li>
	<li>
		 new option to "enable" Night Mode key
	</li>
	<li>
		 new standardized PuP-Pack Options that make it much easier to choose the right option (for all setups)
	</li>
	<li>
		 PinEvent V2 tables are now standalone, and don't "require" external vbs files, or other files just to run. They will simply work for everyone.
	</li>
	<li>
		 new "optional" global PinEvent_V2_Settings.txt file can be used to set all PinEvent V2 settings "once" for all tables
	</li>
	<li>
		 new PinEvent V2 Custom table settings that can be used "per table". This is automatically used if PinEvent_V2_Settings.txt can't be found.
	</li>
	<li>
		 new extensive automated control that will check "everything" and enable / disable DOF and PUP features as needed
	</li>
	<li>
		 new "pup-pack check" that verifies you have the correct version of the Pup-pack for the table. If it's missing or incorrect, all PuP features are disabled
	</li>
	<li>
		 new DEBUG logging that will write DEBUG info to a text file when DEBUG (F9) is used
	</li>
</ul><p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>What has changed with PinEvent V2?</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<ul><li>
		there are no external vbs files used to operate the table
	</li>
	<li>
		there is one singular PinEvent_V2_Setting.txt file used for optional "global" PinEvent V2 settings for all tables
	</li>
	<li>
		there is no need to enable / disable <abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr> Sounds or PuP in settings (there is now only DOF, PUP SSF, PUP <abbr title="Dot Matrix Display"><abbr title="Dot Matrix Display">DMD</abbr></abbr>, PUP Stream)
	</li>
	<li>
		if PUP SSF is not enabled (or "can't" be enabled due to PuP or PuP-Pack not detected, etc), mechanical sounds will automatically play from <abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr> itself
	</li>
	<li>
		there is no need to specify pupdmddrivertype anymore
	</li>
	<li>
		there is no longer any support or PuP-Pack option for LCD <abbr title="Dot Matrix Display"><abbr title="Dot Matrix Display">DMD</abbr></abbr> (4x1) or Real <abbr title="Dot Matrix Display"><abbr title="Dot Matrix Display">DMD</abbr></abbr>. DMDExt can be used now instead for the "<abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr> <abbr title="Dot Matrix Display"><abbr title="Dot Matrix Display">DMD</abbr></abbr>"
	</li>
	<li>
		<p>
			the default for PUPStream is to only stream to the left apron (not the right apron), and the left HUD (not the right hud). FullDMD is used for everything now with PUPDMD, so there's no point in streaming the pup backglass by default.
		</p>

		<p>

		</p>
	</li>
</ul><p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>If LCD <abbr title="Dot Matrix Display"><abbr title="Dot Matrix Display">DMD</abbr></abbr> (4x1) and Real <abbr title="Dot Matrix Display"><abbr title="Dot Matrix Display">DMD</abbr></abbr> is no longer being supported, what PuP-Pack option do those users choose?</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<ul><li>
		If you have a dedicated monitor for LCD <abbr title="Dot Matrix Display"><abbr title="Dot Matrix Display">DMD</abbr></abbr> (4x1) or a real <abbr title="Dot Matrix Display"><abbr title="Dot Matrix Display">DMD</abbr></abbr>, you guys will simply choose the 2 Screen PuP-Pack option that matches your Backglass.
	</li>
	<li>
		With PinEvent V2, users with that setup can now always run DMDExt / <abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr> Intercept / FutureDMD (whatever you use) to mirror the "<abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr> <abbr title="Dot Matrix Display"><abbr title="Dot Matrix Display">DMD</abbr></abbr>" like you do with normal <abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr> tables.. There is no longer a need need to disable it.
	</li>
	<li>
		Simply put, you can now get both the PUPDMD (shown on the backglass) and the "<abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr> <abbr title="Dot Matrix Display"><abbr title="Dot Matrix Display">DMD</abbr></abbr>" shown on your LCD / Real <abbr title="Dot Matrix Display"><abbr title="Dot Matrix Display">DMD</abbr></abbr>.
	</li>
	<li>
		It was always a lot of extra work to support LCD <abbr title="Dot Matrix Display"><abbr title="Dot Matrix Display">DMD</abbr></abbr> and Real <abbr title="Dot Matrix Display"><abbr title="Dot Matrix Display">DMD</abbr></abbr>, and it was also a lot of compromises to the FullDMD display to allow it happen. Now all PuP-Pack options will see the same thing.
	</li>
	<li>
		3 Screen FullDMD users that display DMDExt on their FullDMD monitor will still need to NOT run DMDExt for PinEvent V2 tables (since you get the FullDMD for the table)
	</li>
</ul><p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Will PinEvent V2 mess up older PinEvent tables and PuP-Packs?</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	No. PinEvent V2 uses new code that is completely contained in the table itself, and it uses a different settings file (PinEvent_V2_Settings.txt).
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Will all PinEvent tables be updated to V2 at the same time?</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	No, I will be updating them one by one. It takes time. Some will get "table" updates as well, separate from PinEvent V2 features. Things like Ray Cast shadows, new shadowmaps and ambient shadows and lighting updates will also be applied to all PinEvent V2 tables.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The plan is to update ALL PinEvent tables and PuP-Packs to the new V2 standard. Once that is done, the older tables and PuP-Packs will be phased out and no longer posted or supported.

<p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Please DO NOT use PinEvent V2 code or the name PinEvent in your table mods</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<ul><li>
		“PinEvent” refers to my own specific work that I created to be used for my own table releases only.
	</li>
	<li>
		Everyone knows that <strong>PinEvent = TerryRed releases.</strong>
	</li>
	<li>
		“PinEvent” has specific features and updates that represent my own quality of work
	</li>
	<li>
		please do not use the name “PinEvent” on any table mods, or when referring to pup or dof mods of a <abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr> table.<strong> I don’t want any confusion.</strong>
	</li>
	<li>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>PinEvent V2 tables and mods</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	You are free to mod PinEvent tables, but please consider the following:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<ul><li>
		please wait a long while after release, and ask me first as I am always adding updates
	</li>
	<li>
		I may make changes to both the DOF config and the pup-pack in the future, which will no longer be compatible with older table versions
	</li>
	<li>
		PinEvent tables have complex control code for PUP and DOF
	</li>
	<li>
		table mods may be used by some people in a cabinet with expensive feedback and lighting hardware. If you can’t test all of these features, then you could be allowing the table to cause unknown damage to the cabinet or hardware!
	</li>
	<li>
		please DO NOT include the name PinEvent. I will NOT recognize any mods as “PinEvent” tables, and will not give tech support for them.<strong> I will direct ALL support to you!</strong>
	</li>
	<li>
		I worked VERY hard to create a standard of “quality” and “support” for my releases. <strong>Please respect that.</strong>
	</li>
</ul><p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Please DO NOT modify my DOF configs for PinEvent tables on DOF Config Tool!</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<ul><li>
		I have VERY specific DOF configs that are designed to work with PinEvent updates only!
	</li>
	<li>
		you can make your own DOF changes on your own Private config
	</li>
	<li>
		DO NOT submit changes from your private DOF config for Public consideration! (if there is a problem on one of my tables, please message me)
	</li>
	<li>
		I specifically added separate “PinEvent only” configs so that everyone is free to use the normal <abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr> configs to mod other <abbr title="Future Pinball"><abbr title="Future Pinball">FP</abbr></abbr> tables for DOF
	</li>
</ul><p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>You CAN use PuP and DOF code in your own table mods! (you don’t need PinEvent)</strong>
</p>

<p>

<p>
	So... what started as a "quick update" to Brendan Bailey's classic Sonic the Hedgehog table (from 2005) has turned into a complete overhaul / update of almost "everything".<br><br>
	Not only have I completely redrawn new art for the entire table in 4K, all new lighting, new inserts, fleep sounds, shadowmaps, etc...<br><br>
	...but I am adding lots and lots of new stuff to the point that it will be almost unrecognizable from the old table... and it has a new name.<br><br>
	This video below shows only one of many new cool things I've added (I HAD to have a real Sonic LOOP!). Can't wait to show you the rest of the table!<br><br>
	Remember what I did for Star Wars DSA (Epic Space Battles)? Get ready for the most EPIC Sonic pinball table ever created!<br><br><strong>Sonic Pinball Mania</strong> - coming soon for Future Pinball - BAM!
