Chesco
Good afternoon. A friend wants to update this Display by upd file in Micro SD. I would like to know if I have to use the EVO or V3 update? Thank you. Edited December 3, 2022 by Chesco
Content Provider lucky1 Posted January 12, 2021 Content Provider Share Posted January 12, 2021 Will not work with update file because the firmware is too old. At least version 2.50 is needed. See https://pin2dmd.com/installation/ Point 1.3 You need to upgrade using DFU mode like described in point 1.2 but with the dfu file from the discovery V3 folder on github. Hold down the update button during powerup to get into DFU mode. As I can see from the picture the menu buttons are missing , so you won´t have access to the onscreen menu. Chesco
DMD ST32 is working and updated!!! Thanks. It's possible to make the same process with DMD MK66?
Content Provider lucky1 Posted January 15, 2021 Content Provider Share Posted January 15, 2021 The easy way is changing the PCB against a PIN2DMD EVO pcb and swapping the panels. It is not user friendly as long as Luis from pinballsp doesn´t give out the encryption key of the bootloader. The only way to install it is with the debugging interface e.g, CMSIS dap and issue a flash erase as described here https://jcard0na.github.io/2016/11/11/recover-from-kinetis-in-secured-state.html

Chesco
Returning to the thread of the update of a Display "DMD MK66" of PinballSP... A good friend has this display and would like to use it 100%. Is it possible to install the Pin2DMD firmware using an ST-Link V2 Programmer? If possible, which bin file to use? This one??? https://github.com/lucky01/PIN2DMD/blob/24950b0be1b0e476e3f7eedb357fec6aa889db76/firmware/latest/MK66/pin2dmd.bin Edited November 9, 2022 by Chesco

Chesco
Hello again. I can't load Pin2dmd firmware on MK66. ST-Link Programmer does not detect the device (No STM32 Target Found) and following the instructions to RESET the device with OPENOCD. I run the command "dap.bat". I open the putty program but can't Open a telnet session to openocd by using 127.0.0.1 and port 4444 Appears the next message: PuTTy Fatal Error Network error: Connection refused Edited November 15, 2022 by Chesco
Content Provider lucky1 Posted November 15, 2022 Content Provider Share Posted November 15, 2022 Like I said above it does NOT work with a ST-Link programmer. You need a CMSIS DAP adapter like written in the openocd.txt

Chesco
I think I'll buy one. There are some friends who are interested in installing the Pin2dmd Software on their obsolete MK66 Displays. Is this the adapter I have to buy? Thanks. Chesco
Hello again. I have received the CMSIS-DAPLink. I follow the steps in the "howto.txt" file: 1. Connect your cmsis dap adapter to the device 2. Start openocd by executing "dap.bat" 3. Open a telnet session to openocd by using 127.0.0.1 and port 4444 (see putty.png) -Open... Nevertheless, i get the same message from Putty... Any suggestions? Thanks. Edited December 1, 2022 by Chesco
