  1. Just started doing this and WCS, TFTC work yet Congo and batman don't. I'm doing the same thing to install (put the two files into the rom named folder in altcolor). external selected and I can see the freezy dmd taking over yet Congo and batman are the same yellow/orange color. Any idea why these specific ones don't work? I'm using the latest 1.9 freezy version. All done via virtual, on the desktop EDIT - FIXED. For those that didn't work, after testing the roms in PINMAME, I realized the external dll was checked but not the color option below. All set. Results are unbelievable. Great job community. Playing this is VPVR with a 3090 and my jaw is on the floor (Valve VR). 90fps pretty locked, 2.0 SS and 150 SS in Steam.
  2. Another happy customer - I received the pin2dmd in no time works perfect thanks!
  3. Thanks! I was able to get the right strobe back going.... I swear though that that 5 rgb lights don't go off as much or aren't as bright or something compared to what I used to have. In test they work fine. What settings in dof config can I check this out make sure they are as bright as possible? For example in Metallica the rgb lights aren't going off during the pops Also the rgb lights seem to be blending together so I don't get just green blue or red but a yellow pink mixture sometimes (in one of the five lights for example)
  4. I figured out how to update my DOF based on your input and determined I now have a LEDwiz device. I updated the DOF program and assigned the ports and generated a file and it worked fine. Problem is I noticed my right strobe wasn't working even though it was before and the one working (left) didn't seem as bright. I went into LED blinky and port 14 is strobe yet only left goes off. How do I check to see why right is no longer working? Everything else is working in LED blinky as expected including the 5 RGB setup I also think the effects on the lights (RGB 5 setup) are not as strong/bright/or even go off during some games like MET compared to what I had before (on the older DOF program). I mentioned older b.c when I first generated the new config (4 files) it didn't work and I realized it's b/c the previous owner was running older dof program. Thanks!
  5. looking for a pin2dmd already put together - no time to make. PM if you have one thanks
  6. SOLUTION! Change this registry line item from 1 to 0 fixed it!!! at91jit For others with the same issue - check this out first. It would have saved me 12 hours! Line item at91jit which is in the individual roms settings under vpmame in registry. Who the F would have thought to change that? User STV recommended it. Thanks!
  7. Yeah totally understand. Tech is very impressive Tables work perfectly when external is not checked. How do I turn on debugging? For now I'm defaulting to no external checked, loading though Pinballx and then F1 to change to external than f3. Work around for now. Not sure if they're are shortcuts to uncheck/check. Also noticed that powered by mame is showing when the table loads. Before it would just load without showing screen. Likely due to me deleting the rom name in registry during troubleshooting. Need to figure out how to change that back.
  8. oh ok - just to be clear, that will only work on pin2dmd hardware not the virtual dmd right? I only have the virtual dmd option On my end, still troubleshooting and now it works just randomly. I just open table, it crashes, repeat and now it opens. But it's not repeatable. I get an error from VP but not sure that's helpful. What's the best thing to look for to report this bug?
  9. Appreciate the response lucky. What dll are you referring too that works and can you share here? You mention vpx is timing critical - wasn't following.
  10. After exhausting many options I've decided to create this topic. I have successfully loaded and played many games with color ROM via freezy DMDdevice. Here's the issue If I load a colored rom first (which has external DMD turned on) in vpx the app crashes. If I load a non colored rom with no external DMD checked it loads and if I close the table and load that same color ROM, it will load fine and color works great. Problem is bc it won't load first I can't load these color ROMs through PinballX either bc vpx crashes in background. I've been troubleshooting for two nights no luck. Anyone have suggestion as to why this is happening? Btw what an amazing add on. Simply incredible having color option even on par with my team color dmd
  11. Did some more research last night and it doesn't seem like it's just this file so now I'm back at square one. Could this be a bug? I will close this thread and open one that is dedicated and in target compared to the title of this thread. Thanks
  12. So I figured out the problem......and giving up for tonight on trying to solver it but here's what's causing the crash. "B2Stablesettings" file The settings file that's created in my tables folder once I make changes to B2s (most importantly doing an active plugin so my feedback works). If I remove JUST this file, the games with external load perfectly on cold VPX boot. If I put the file back into the tables folder, I get my force feedback back however the crashes occur. Any idea how to fix this? I'm attaching the file I'm referring too. So many meetings tomorrow - I need to call it a night but this is def the reason why it's happening. B2STableSettings.xml
  13. I will check. The good news is thst the external is no longer a problem - I was able to fix it and size for all. The last problem seems to be VPX crashing when I load a table that's using external DMD. It will only happen if I try to load that type of table first. Problem is it's also crashing pinball x (my frontend) regardless of what I play before it. If I switch the same game to use VPM dvd and not external, pinball X boots right into it. hmmmmm I also have a GTX 760. Thinking about updating to 970 just to max everything out.
  14. Great update. Thank again for the help. I deleted all relevant files and then redid it - and now it works (just changing the set of X, Y, etc in the ini. Whats weird is that I need to have a dmddevice.ini in my vpmame AND my tables folder. I also still get errors when I cold open VPX (prompt to open a file) and try to start SM VE or Avengers yet others work and once I get a successful launch, SM and AVG work.
  15. I get this and trying to but when I change the ini, it will register in game (like turning off the resize icon in the bottom corner of the dmd but setting to true but the changes I'm making to X, Y, etc seem to be ignored. It still shows up in the same wrong spot on the playfield instead of where it should be (different display totally). What will work is if I put the individual game with its own X, Y, at the end of the ini, it will actually move the file to where its noting. What's also weird is that the games with external dmd will crash if I select them upon start up of VPX. If i play a non external dmd first then one with external checked, it will work. Maybe a bug I can report but just seems like others would notice. Basically - can you guys play metallica upon start up of VPX (where it auto opens the menu and makes you select table).
  16. So I have a 3 screen setup like you. How were you able then to just change this once and it apply to the rest of your tables (re: external DMD). As for this: "I meant that if there are no sort of UAC or write access issues to the VPM folder that you can drag and resize using the grip. The program will write the size and position to DMDDevice.ini and that will be what it uses for all roms set to use the external virtual DMD. " I tried just moving the external, resizing and when I closed the table and reopened it was back to the original place. You mention "the program will write the size....." - what program are you referring to b/c VP won't.
  17. Very helpful! I see this "You can adjust the size and position of the display either by editing DMDDevice.ini -or- by starting VPinMAME either by using Setup.exe -> Test or by running its table in VP. Drag the display where you want it and resize using the grip visible in one corner of the display." For the second option, does that mean I open setup for vpm and pick the rom then select test and then I'm able to move the external DMD to the correct position and it will be remembered once I close the test? The .ini file would work but from my experience I need to write location parameters for each game which is tedious. Ideally I would like to do this once and then the position for external DMD is always in the same spot for any game but not she that exists.
  18. you are so right about that. Fun but I almost spend more time configuring the virtual then fixing the real ones! As a new owner, anything I need to install that you love and would recommend? EDIT _ tried FG and works great. Did the same with POTC and it loads but virtual dmd is using 4 colors, not full. Renamed to pin2dmd.pin not sure if it's on me or it can't be used for virtual.... EDIT 2: How do I move the external dmd on display 3 for each game instead of just 1 (by writing it in the dmddevice.ini). Looking for the quickest way so that external dmd is in the right section auto for all games as opposed to me moving it. Also - any idea why vpx might crash upon initial startup when playing games config to show external? They work fine if vpx loads a game and then quit and then load external DMD game.
  19. no that's great and that's exactly what I'm getting when doing the "patch" process. That works perfect. Most of my questions relate to the non patch ones (aka older games, non stern). Doesn't seem like for those the virtual dmd brings more to the table than VPM as those are just 4 color based (not the full patch color) right? Really appreciate the quick responses guys. Recently got a virtual pin and just configuring the hell of it.
  20. Thanks guys. I'll upload what I'm showing in my cab. Weird b/c what I'm showing is purple and looks good but appears incomplete. EDIT - wonder if it's carry over my purple setting when I colored it in VPM dmd....? Not sure I like the screenshot posted vs the red blood. As for the dmddevice virtual dmd vs VPM - the virtual dmd is the one we get by checking "external dmd" right? The VPM allows you to pick the four colors (100%, 66%, etc). but how do I get to chooe 16 colors with the virtual dmd? What I don't understand is specific to old games and some sterns not fully colored, is it better to use .dmc files (via setdmd) or .pal files? Currently I'm using .dmc and using VPM. I have tried to turn on the virtual DMD (when using .dmc) but the colors/quality seem to be the same. I'm not sure if .pal (pin2dmd) files bring anything more to the table than .dmc. when using the virtual dmd but the virtual dmd didn't seem to be any better than the VPM at least for the older games. Ultimately i just want to make sure I'm not missing on something that would make the older ones look better besides what I'm getting with .dmc. The full color rom/patch look amazing and I thought that was b/c it uses 16 shades? If that's the case from your last message, does that mean I can get full color on older games? Thanks for the help.
  21. Ok great to know. I've already patch just need to include .pal. Btw didn't see the color version of family guy when testing the patch in VPM. As a result, table is not starting as I've changed the game name to match color ROM. Maybe I just leave the patched Rom as the original to trick it to start....?
  22. Great - please post a pic of the plunge screen where the zombie is waiting and if you hit skill shot, he's shot. Mine looks messed up. Maybe I need 2.9 beta? I'm assuming that pic of Metallica is the patched Rom color support - I have the same and it does look great. As for the files avail - I see a family guy, simpsons party and pirates of the caribean but I thought all needs real pin2dmd hardware? When I d/l those files, they aren't in the same format as Metallica (.pin, patch file and read me - there are like 6 files, family guy has a .dat file). Are you saying all 3 can be colorized via patch and played on virtual? Would be awesome.
  23. OK - I did that (checked external and color) Is TWF ONLY for pindmd or will it work on virtual? If virtual (as I only have virtual), mine is looking weird (incomplete - will take a pic today). Does yours look fine? If so, can you send a similar one to MET? I have MET looking very good too but I did the patch rom approach. That isn't just the 4 color right? Also - is the coloring done via dmc the same as .pal (in alt folder) for older games? I believe both are using the 4 shades right? Right now for older games I'm using the dmc files which were loaded via setdmd.
