Welcome to Cactus Jack's!  It's Party Time!

This table was originally done by BorgDog and Bodydump on version 0.95.  They had help from Dark (cactus models), Bord (lighting) and Rothbauerw (physics) some time ago.  I asked for permission to add all the latest physics, sounds, etc. to the table.  I also did quite a few updates in version 2.0 mentioned below.  Also thanks to RIK, PinStratsDan, Apophis, and Wylte for testing the table.

IMPORTANT:  You MUST select what mode of table you are playing in the Script.  VR, Desktop, or Cab.

There are several other options to select as well, including ball brightness, VR Room, VR clock, VR posters, VR topper.

LUT can be changed by clicking the right and left magna save buttons.  (You can turn that off in the script as well)

IF YOU experience performance issues... there are options to change that.  First of all, there's an option to turn wobble off.  Wobble allows the cacti on top of the bumpers to move when you nudge the table, or the ball hits the bumpers.  A cool effect but not if you experience performance issues.  Also, you can turn dynmaic shadows off for additonal performance if needed.

Version 2.0 Updates:

- The table is now a hybrid (desktop, cab, and VR)
- VR includes an animated backglass (image from Wildman), and several VR options (room, poster, clock, topper).  (Sixtoe originally provided VR cab art and other tweaks a year ago)
- The table and flipper physics have been updated to the latest VPW standards, as well as dynamic shadows, drop targets, ramprolling sounds, and several other tweaks.
- Fleep sounds added
- Corrected a couple errors in the table, as the upper drop targets were reversed.  Also tilt wasn't working.  All corrected, and adjusted.
- Enhanced performance as much as I could by removing all getballs calls and no longer destroy and recreate balls.  I implemented only the gBOT global call.
- Updated the trough code to manage all balls on the table.
- Added LUT options.
- I also typed up a rules sheet and included in the download, and in table info, since it can't be found on the web.

Released

v 2.0.2:  Tomate created a different ramp that is much smoother.  That along with a wall correction that Rothbauerw found will fix the left ramp issue with it being hard to get up, as well as any balls getting stuck.  (no longer need the velocity/distance code to help).  However, the additional code to assist the ball getting stuck behind the bumper seems to be working great.  A small tweak to a physics only ramp that was visible is now unchecked as well.

@ScottT Boy... haven't seen that at all.  Perhaps find a different ROM, or nvram file??  Did the old version of Cactus Jack's work?

Great table thanks, for some reason the ball doesn't release for me either & have tried it with the nv ram too.

Can you help me troubleshoot?  I do not see this problem on my desktop, cab, or VR.  Do you know if it did it in the old version?  That would help me.  Is it a focus issue?  Meaning, is another window stealing focus, and you might have to click that window (this used to happen to me on some tables in VR).  Is it accepting coins and starts... then just doesn't launch a ball?  Or can you hear it trying to launch a ball, and it just doesn't go in the groove?  What happens exactly?

Hi, it accepts coins & is not a focus problem & the dmd displays properly & the playfield lights,I did reinstall the earlier version from Rascal which worked before but strangely does the same thing,I'm sure it tries to release a ball

So the other version does the same thing.  Ok... that would lead me to believe it's not anything specific to the edits done on this table.  I would suggest perhaps it's a nvram issue.  Try removing the cactjack.nv file and the cactjack.cfg file.  And then load a fresh nv file from here.  https://www.vpforums.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=1362   Then relaunch.

I have the same problem where the table makes the sound of the coin drop, but no ball is loaded in the trough.  it is accepting coins and starts... then just doesn't launch a ball.

I do not hear any ball trying to go in to the trough.

I have read this stream and appreciate your comments to SteveGooner.

- I have since removed the nvram entry and the config file.  Thanks for providing that link to the nvram content.

- I have loaded the other Cactus Jack table that Rascal modded from PacDude.  That table runs fine and loads a ball that I can play.

Your constructive comments are welcome.

So I ran into the same issue. The game would load but would not start, as no balls would enter the plunger. It as as if it was in tilt mode and needed a ball to drain.

So I went into debug mode with ball control and found a strange white ball. When I controlled it it was moving super slow, as if it was not on the table and was on a different plane/layer above the table.

I then moved this white ball off screen towards/into the drain hole, and then tilted a couple of times purposely.

This seem to have fixed the problem and now the game works again after a reset.

Hauntedfreak's fullscreen DMD wasn't working for me neither during this but after this reset it is now working again.

I am sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but I have the dmd "reflected" onto my playfield (green characters scrolling on the right upper corner), along with some other circle anomalies. I assume it's because this is a VR room board. Is there a switch in the table script to turn all that off?

Nevermind, I found it. I needed to set it to cabinet mode just below the VR mode:

const cab_mode=1 (it was set at 0, which caused the reflections)

Thanks!
