Osprey101
Hey Guys, After spending all my money on my bowler build, I came home to find my main computer died. Yes, I pulled the RAM and pulled the video card and pulled the hard drives. It won't even load the BIOS. 90% sure it is the processor. (Luckily, I brought home the computer for the bowler so I can at least get online. But this thing is a turd and will need help before it goes in the bowler. 512 Megs of RAM sucks.) So now my call to the community for help. I know many of you have, or have access to, computer bone-yards. I am hoping someone may have a CPU laying about they don't need anymore. My current system is a Dell Inspiron 518, and uses an Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 http://ark.intel.com/products/36463/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-E7300-3M-Cache-2_66-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB Here is a list of compatible processors. http://ark.intel.com/products/31914/Intel-82G33-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller#compatibility I need something at least as good as the original. Not to be picky or anything, but with my graphics work, that's what I need. If no one has one, I will figure something out. Just don't quite know when. Hate to be a beggar, but this was bad timing. Content Provider Rascal Posted January 5, 2013 Content Provider Share Posted January 5, 2013 Did you test out the power supply? It's very rare for a processor to just stop working. In my 15 years in the field, I can't remember once ever having to replace the processor due to it dying. I would suspect power supply or mobo. Does it give you any beep codes?
