lucky is right you should upgrade the firmware, though that will not fix all or maybe any of these issues :) Thanks for the bug report, that missing multiplier start was actually visible in an earlier video posted here too, I have just never got around to getting a dump for it and adding the trigger; I recall discussing that with Wob at the time, we never saw it on all our VPIN dumps; I think you need to have "spent" the 2 free locks, and used the warp factor beyond warp 9 before this will appear, so at least one EB needed too! Basically you are a much better player than me so I decided it was never going to be an issue ;)

I will add all these to my bug list and will try and squash them next time I'm editing that project - will post something here when it happens!

I'm even more impressed by the animations now I have the correct software and I've updated the comments.......as to my playing ability, well lets just say you cant take the glass off of a virtual pin.......😉

My work is restoring pinball machines, there's lots of sanding, paint spraying and so on. The covers keep the dust off and they are also used for protection when they get moved.

Thanks, glad you like it :) the fact people are willing to install and enjoy it is payment enough!

Learned a new triggering technique/approach while working on a Flintstones scene recently and hoping to come back to this and work some magic on the wormhole status in the near future...

829 frames. 277 sequences of 3 frames cut and coloured. 277 individual triggers added(!). Hours and hours of work in total, I added the last trigger last night and nervously loaded it up - it works great!...

441249298_epicgif.gif.45bbd3bbea0b22a0cccf035503895fa8.gif

...until you hit any shot on the table; at which point the none of my triggers reliably fire anymore, presumably the placement of the Enterprise vs. the purple background changes depending on when you hit the shot. It's hit and miss, sometimes it works great, but sometimes it just doesn't fire again. Alas my dreams of working magic may end here, assuming I could capture the "other" 829 frame sequence, I don't know if I have the heart to colour it again this was incredibly monotonous. I might try adding some "backup" triggers in line with how it used to be coloured but I have a feeling these will interfere with my existing 277 triggers...

If anyone wants to try it, here is a (green borg) vpin version featuring the above sequence - it works sometimes, but not all the time. On the plus side, I think I have broken a new record here, the VNI comes in at over 10Mb!

Found few things. Probably you wanna fix it. When you have multiplier it will be coler to colorize 10X 8X and other with move volume and proboably other colors: green blue or any other. 10X looks so flat. when you collect crystal, it have background. Not sure that it should have background. on last picture it has 3 balls on original dmd output and didnt have it after colorization.

I am sorry to hear that; I am currently finishing off another project so don't want to try upgrading my own PIN2DMD at the minute, but no one else has mentioned any problems so far. Are you using vpin or real files? Is this a brand new display, or you upgraded from an older working firmware?

I will try upgrading to v3 firmware as soon as I'm finished my current project, but don't want to risk causing any delays.

If it helps I'm using 3.02 and LX-7 in a real pin with no issues.

Loaded my Pin2DMD with this custom set of colors - WOW! The videos look amazing!  Well done!

This is on a real game - I believe the ROM is LG-7. I assume that I will need to update my ROM to LX-7 to be compatible?  Right now the colors are just in black & white only

I don't have a real TNG pin myself so can't say for sure (I hope someone else may be able to confirm) but I would have thought that LG-7 should work, for the most part anyway. There might be one or two broken sequences but I would have thought most of it would be ok.

What  firmware version are you using? Has it been activated successfully?

Thanks for the response!  I ended up finding the proper ROM and install it yesterday.  But there's no change! So the issue isn't in the ROM.  I'm using Pin2DMD 3.03

I wonder if I have installed the .fsc file incorrectly.  The pin2dmd.pal, the key file, and pin2dmd.fsc from your project are all installed on the SD card in the root folder.

The default color palette seems to have worked correctly, everything is greyscale.   I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do next? The instructions are rather vague as to the exact location the files need to be in.  Basic question, I know! I'd just love to take a look at this great work you've done

Well.. I figured this out on my own.  WOW! What an amazing *amazing* job.  Very happy I soldiered through on this.

What did I have to do? Well, it wasn't the hardware or firmware - I just re-copied the files ONE more time (I had done this 3 times), and this time installed the "blueborg" palette, and that did the trick.  Prior to that I'd been using the palette file that has the green borg ship. whatever, it looks great now.  Thank you so much!

Small, but LOOOONG overdue 1.02 update uploaded for real and vpin:

  • Added "multiplier" ball launch award (thanks Mace)
  • Added more video mode frames for less flicker (real pin)
  • Minor palette tweaks in a few scenes (thanks vbobrusev)

Make sure you download the right version (vpin vs real)!

I've just managed to pull off the video mode as well (it was so simple to trigger this whole time, how did I miss it?!) so there will be yet another update coming soon; just the wormhole status to go, which I'm going to try again using the method described in the getaway thread. If I can get that then I can call the English rom 100% complete!

Also found some initials in one of the frames I've not seen referenced before, they always appear during the shuttle crash in video mode 🤔
