Did you check that the rom has all the files ? Always, if there is something odd going on with rom. Run it through setup.exe. It might be that you don't have the *.snd for the "mother" rom or something like that. https://www.reddit.com/r/MAME/comments/5s5j66/merged_vs_nonmerged/Split set vs Merge set

no sound testing in setup either i've tried 3 rom versions rev 1,2 and 3 all renamed to teedoff3. it's the only table that does this out of 90 tables installed including other Got tables.

I didn't check the content of the roms when I answered you last time. I just assumed that it could be a problem. Not all roms has files named *.snd either. This is my 3 roms for teedoff*

find . -type f -name "teed*zip" -exec unzip -v {} \;

If yours are the same. Then you have to look elsewhere for the problem. Btw. look at the CRC-32 field here. That guarantees that the file is correct if it matches yours. Haven't had any issues with that table, but, admittedly not played it in a while. It's a great table so maybe I should give it a run just to verify that all is good.  Renaming the roms ? NO No No. Never do that. You should change the cgamename variable inside the game, NOT the rom name. Pinmame knows that when you run teedoff.zip the content of the archived rom should be exactly as shown above with the correct crc-32' - If you rename the nr 1 one it is not what pinmame expects. However, if you change the cgamename variable in the game. You simply start the machine with a new rule set or whatever was the reason for the new rom was released back in the days. To me it sounds like your registry or nvram for that game isn't in shape anymore, and maybe partly because of what you did is the reason for it. Reset the rom to default is probably what is needed now.

i tried changing the cgamename value but got the rom can't initiate errors. i've tried resetting all values no luck still no sound and now i can't even add coins to it anymore the 5 key doesn't add coins.

screw it i'm done with this table one out of 90 tables didn't work i can live with that. i got plenty of others.

So, that is when you need to use the small gray ones. Why did you get the rom initial error when you changed rom ? You created new registry entry for the rom and I bet you haven't set the default value for ddraw to zero in registry. Well, if you don't care - I surely don't at this point. :)

Thank you Carny :)

Just another Question: http://vpuniverse.com/forums/files/file/4738-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-104-german/
I
want to use the German ROM, but i cant see any different to the other one - just "German Version" in the Start Message,
but is there anything in German ? Text, Voices ... i couldnt see/hear anything.

I don't have any other information. I looked back at the source code when the set addition was committed, and I don't see any notes about it. You might contact volkenborn from PinMAMEDev and see if he recalls anything. It's been a couple of years. It's always possible that the start message is the only difference that or some way that local currency is handled that is different from the US version.

FYI, the only checking I do prior to posting a romset is ensuring that it passes a clrmamepro audit (file names, sizes, and checksums match what is defined in the VPinMAME source). I don't typically load or test in VPinMAME Setup or load in a table. A dev could even add partially working or nonworking sets for reasons.

What's the deal with color ROM's not working now? Seems that I have to ignore the CRC now.

Patched game code? They've always required 'Ignore ROM CRC errors' to be checked in game settings.

Hmmm, I've had them all checked previously, but all of a sudden they have all become un-checked.  No changes to my registry.

The actual firmware version shows up on boot. Make sure that dll and firmware fit together.
