Cue777
I can open any version of visual pinball, I have 9, 10.3 ,10.4 beta and open any table, I can then edit the script or do whatever I want within Visual pinball, if I then play the table, when I hit the Q button to exit it gives me the error "Visual pinball has stopped responding click here to close". All of my tables work just fine when loaded and exited thru Pinball X though. It has been working fine up until I updated my vpinmame to the sam 2.9 version, then this started. Any idea what is causing it?
Thalamus
There is a even newer sam available - you could try that one. I haven't had your problem, but, I've seen crashes on exit. But, that was a long time ago when running a older version of dmdext. It looked like the table was closing normally but, nvram didn't get saved. I've seen a few that has reported this happening not that long time ago when running walking dead. Don't know if they ran the latest either. I can only tell you that I'm at latest and on 2.5.1 of dmdext and it is working great except for reported bugs.
Content Provider allknowing2012 Posted October 21, 2017 Content Provider Share Posted October 21, 2017 ..and you clicked install after loading up 2.9? Are the .dll blocked? Perhaps just grab the 3.0 version ..
Cue777
I tried the 3.0 version and nothing changed. I copied the vpinmame.dll file to my vpinmame folder and then ran setup, it said it installed 3.0. The dll was also blocked which I unblocked, but visual pinball still stops responding no matter what table I open or what version I use.
Thalamus
I'm sorry, but since I've never had this problem myself I'm not sure what might be causing it. You need to backtrack to what you changed when this started to happen.
Cue777
All I did was add the vpinmame 2.9 dll to the folder and hit install, that fixed all my problems with the sam games but then this started.
Thalamus
So, what happens if you downgrade to the working pinmame.dll ?
Cue777
It works fine. If I install 2.9 or 3.0 then VP crashes, if I install the older version it doesnt.
Thalamus
Hmm. That is really weird. What setup do you run ? pindmdX, pin2dmd or lcd ? Do you run with dmddevice.dll ? If you are. Is it from lucky1 or freezy ? I have a feeling that we need some brighter minds to resolve this one. @CarnyPriest @toxie
Cue777
I have a widebody cabinet that I bought from Virtuapin so not sure? It has a pindmd3 and have not changed any dll files other than the vpinmame one.
Thalamus
Hmm. Maybe you should try my hack then. I haven't ran 2.9 or 3.0 without it. http://vpinball.com/wiki/visual-pinball-knowledge-base/pindmd3-replacing-pindmd-dll-for-dmddevice-dll/ Be noted. There is a few tables that has some issues though. These problems seems to start on 2.9. Cue777
Whats the purpose of that hack? From the link in your post it seems its for playing videos on the DMD while browsing games in PinballX? Mine isnt setup to do that and I dont have any issues with the DMD or Ultradmd and they both have colors. Seems it may start more issues?
Thalamus
http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=36915 All I can say. I haven't run the un-colored dmd since pre 2.9. I only have the issues posted above. I mostly suggested this as something you could try to fix your current problem.
Cue777
That doesnt seem to have anything to do with visual pinball crashing, only colorizing roms? Ill wait till later for messing with that in case I screw something else up on my machine.
