Content Provider lucky1 Posted December 28, 2015 Author Content Provider Share Posted December 28, 2015 Find attached a default smartdmd.txt file. You have to choose SMARTDMD as palette. After that you can edit the graphics andchoose a palette in the editor. You can change the colors of a palette with CTRL- klick. You find further instructions in the pinside article. You may need a registered version of pinball browseror a older version like 4.44 which got posted here earlier. smartdmd.zip

17Al3x17
Hi Lucky, I have try with the last Pinball Browser ( 550 and no license ) and all is ok ! Just colored the ROM, save it and rename it. Perfect, it's so easy now Now, I have to take time for colored all the ROM ... Personally, it's more easy to colored the ROM with Pinball Browser than PIN2DMD Editor ( but it's also in Beta ). Of course it is easier to color the ROM but unfortunately it is not possible that way with ROM which only use 2bit color depth like all the older machines. Please share your experience and results here. If you use the older version of pinball browser you can even share the macro created. Have fun ! Content Provider lucky1 Posted January 17, 2016 Author Content Provider Share Posted January 17, 2016 Here is the file needed to patch the original Stern ROM of Metallica to the colored version provided by PinballMike. To create the needed ROM file you can either use pinball browser (.pbm) orbspatch (http://www.daemonology.net/bsdiff/)Use the latest pin2dmd.exe tool to upload the palette .dat file with /b option.(e.g. pin2dmd.exe /b mtl_164.dat) and the latest firmware version to use the ROM.You also need a pinmame version supporting the patched ROM. mtl164_c.zip

Is 0xF4CE688B the correct checksum using bsdiff to patch the rom? With shrek I was able to simply ignore CRC errors and use the standard rom name, but acdc crashes pinmame with this rom. vampirolatino2
can the modded roms be shared or is against the forum? so this way everyone have the same file/crc I can host them in google drive
Content Provider lucky1 Posted January 18, 2016 Author Content Provider Share Posted January 18, 2016 I added the Metallica files to my post above. Since pinball browser modifies the filesize of the roms they have to be added to the romlist with the new filesize. The reason is that pinmame only loads the number of bytes given in the filesize field of the ROMLoad line and not the actual size of the file. However since pinball browser always extends the size to the same size for each rom there only is a need for one entry now matter how you colorize the file. So every different colorization for the game can be used with the same pinmame entry by checking ignore crc. New PinMame release is coming soon. Blashyrk
@fren did you name the rom acd_168c? and do you have the latest vpinmame.dll from Lucky1?
Content Provider freneticamnesic Posted January 19, 2016 Content Provider Share Posted January 19, 2016 No I was trying it before he released a modified .dll, similar to how shrek worked you could just replace the existing rom and ignore errors, but it didn't work with this one. Haven't tried yet with his modified dll though

SPARKY70
ok, i get it. thats what i was afraid of. i just dont have the time to redo my cab with a real DMD. as of now i am able to add color to my monitor type dmd by right clicking and changing up to 4 colors, but thats just not enough colors to do it right. i assume that there are more than 4 colors possible with pin2DMD.correct? Lucky, is there a way that you can make pin2DMD work with a monitor as a dmd display? thanks/sparky
Content Provider lucky1 Posted January 23, 2016 Author Content Provider Share Posted January 23, 2016 Lucky, is there a way that you can make pin2DMD work with a monitor as a dmd display? thanks/sparky Pin2dmd is made to work with RGB LED panels. There will be no modification from me to make it work with a standard monitor. Sorry
SPARKY70
Hi lucky, thanks forthe response. What makes it only work with a RGB panel, and not a monitor that is capable of producing all colors? In other words, what tells the RGB panel what colors to use, but wouldnt be able to tell a monitor the same? Maybe i could modify it myself. Thanks. Content Provider lucky1 Posted January 24, 2016 Author Content Provider Share Posted January 24, 2016 The palette information must be extracted from the dmd data during play. You got to get the information how this is done from oga who is the creator of pinball browser / smartdmd.
