osujd
Gents, I have recently installed World Cup Soccer (Bally)(1994)(Bmiki75 Koadic Bodydump Bent98)(1.2)(FS MOD). 1.2 this is an awesome table however it is really choppy on my system. I have a brand new computer with an I5 processor and a gtx 970 graphics card. I would think that is more than enough horsepower to run this table, but maybe I am wrong. Do you guys have suggestions on settings with Virtual Pinball that can be changed to improve performance if a particular table gets choppy. All of the other 25 tables run fine on the system, Thanks all
natetaco
Your system should crush this table. Your settings are more than likely the problem. What TV are you using for the playfeld? I originally had a seiki brand TV that had microstutter on certain tables, when I switched to a better TV, the microstutter was gone. Some TV's simply aren't fast enough to render VP correctly. This is what works for me. 1. Run all 3 screens on the 970 2. Turn off onboard graphics 3. Set sync to 0. 4. Make sure the backglass is set to exe mode 5. Set all TV's to game mode and make sure they are all set to render at 60 hz on your gfx card. If this doesn't get rid of your stutter. Let me know, I'll crank up the cab and post my gfx card settings. Good luck
osujd
Thanks for the reply.....I am running a fairly high end samsung tv so I doubt that is the issue. I did what you said and turned off the onboard graphics set the sync and ensured that the backglass is in exe mode. Unfortunately I am still getting stutter. Thanks again for your help Josh
natetaco
I run a 2 year old samsung led, so you should be ok. Did you check to see if windows and the gfx card are both rendering all tvs at 60 hz?? Does the table have stutter without the backglass running? If not, check the backglass again if I remember correctly, somewhere in the "animations" there will be one of animations set to 5x, set it to 1x along with all the rest. Also gi frames skip can be set from 1 to 10. While solenoids can bet set from 1 to 30. I think my settings are gi=1 and solenoid=3? I'll crank up the cab and post my gfx card settings for you, after I cut the yard. Hope this helps, Nate.
natetaco
Here you go, Josh, these are my settings. Right click = NVidia settings, Hope this helps.. Nate
osujd
All tvs are now at 60z...the dmd was not. I am still getting stutter without the backless running. In my animation window the dropdown was completely blank on my end so I am not sure what to change. GI Frame skip is now set to 1 and solenoids set to 3. Unfortunately I am still getting stutter. Thanks again for the help Nate!! Josh
osujd
Hi Nate, I have changed all of my Nvidia settings to reflect your performance settings. The only difference is my Antialiasing setting can only be changed to 8x. Unfortunately I am still getting stutter on my end. Not sure if this information helps but at some point in the game the goalie stopped moving and the soccer ball stopped rotating and everything was smooth as silk. connorsdad
Turn off vsync, not as nice to look at but should clear up the choppiness. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
osujd
I have my v-sync set to 0 I am assuming this is what your referring to? Still choppy
osujd
I think the issue was with using the maximum pre-rendered frames. Once that was turned off it started working great again.
natetaco
Glad to see you got it fixed. I run prerendered frames at 0, everything turned off in VP except antialias ball and force anisotropic texture filtering. Also when separating backglass sounds and output sounds, I set both of mine at 16 bit, 44100 hz (CD quality). Check and make sure you are using the correct audio outputs. (Control panel-sound). My computer has 5 different outputs!! Using f11 watch framerates and switch audo outputs. After playing with mine I remember getting something like 150+ fps difference on certain audio settings. I picked the highest framerate, that had very little "drop" in framerates when the table is running to get vp\hyperpin running so smooth. My settings are coexant speakers as default and nvidia as default communication. In VP sound manager coexant is my output sounds, an nvidia is my backglass. Also turn off paging file. No need to hammer your hard drive writing them, as your system is well beyond what you need for VP. Glad you got it straight. Nate
connorsdad
How do you guys switch prerendered frames to 0 ? My options are app controlled, 1, 2, 3 or 4. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
