BobAlbright
I posted this over at VPF and got no answers. Thought I'd see if any of you know why this is happening. Like the topic says--I start to play a table--doesn't seem to matter what table---and the sound will start to loop and the table locks up. The only way to exit the game at that point is to go through task manager. It's really weird because some days I can fire up the cab and play for a few hours with no issues. Sometimes I can play several days in a row and no issues. Then the next day, I can't get away from it happening at all. Very frustrating--especially if you in the middle of a "high score game". I've run virus check, chkdsk, dumped temp files to no avail. If you had an answer to this , I'll love you forever! Thanks
outhere
Did you try lowering any of the settings in the video options under preference
xtremed
To make it more complicated, I too have this problem , its not hardware. This only began happening once I went to 990 or higher.
Frostbyte424
The first step I would try is using a couple of performance monitors to see what's going on. Namely CPU and gpu usage, as well as temperatures. That information can point you in the right direction. If GPU usage is pretty heavy, then you'll have to tone down settings a bit. If temperatures get high around your CPU or RAM, that can certainly cause lock ups and instability (usually across the system), If CPU usage spikes to 100% when the tables lock up, it likely is the software. Assuming all comes back "clean", rollback a version or two. I've noticed in the forums that VP can be a finicky program. A given version can cause no end of headaches for some users, and for others it's fine. Temp monitor: http://www.tomsguide.com/answers/id-2074965/ram-cpu-gpu-temp-monitor.html CPU and GPU usage - use Task Manager with Windows, and software for your GPU usually comes with some tools. If none of that works, we might have to look at it piece by piece. IE Uninstall and reinstall PinMAME, VP, etc.

BobAlbright
Just in case anyone else might be experiencing this, I thought I'd post Thai I THINK I have found my solution by bumping the frame limiter to 1. I tried that a few days ago and have not had it act weird at all since I did that. I sure hope it's the answer. I'll report back if the problem returns. Thanks for all your ideas.
