  1. Thanks.... I'm pretty much exhausted from this... trying to learn and do etc. and I haven't got there yet... I know that Malenko said that I didn't have much, but that not much was literally well over a hundred hours of effort but I stopped counting. A lot of what you have said will help. I couldn't find enough information when I started and it seems the methods used now are different to what was suggested was the only way I could do things back then. I would like to see it completed, but I'm running on empty at the moment.
  2. If anyone is interested, the link below is where the project currently sits. I believe that some things I am having difficulties correcting may be due to beginning this project on an early version of Pin2DMD Editor but it may just be that I don't know how to use it will enough. You can by all means grab it, tinker with it or just have a look and see what you think. There were a number of complications I ran into and with advancements there are better methods used now so I am not sure whether fixing/finishing this one or starting fresh would be best. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/nkqk9cqn2xnvtmp/AADUemnJvokAoHfuRkkqGb32a?dl=0
  3. I've watched the tutorial... it's great. Very informative. Some of it is different to how I'd previously been told to do it but I'm not sure if it's just personal preferences or changes in the versions but your results speak for themselves so I'll use your method from now on
  4. There are some scenes that can't be done with current methods but that isn't really any different to many others.
  5. So I thought I'd give an update... As I mentioned previously, someone took over the project and they seemed very keen and advised that they did a few things to it straight away. Unfortunately I haven't heard anything from them for a while (just over a month) so I don't know how they are going. They were hoping to have beta testing ready by Christmas but don't want to show it until it is presentable in their opinion. As that person hasn't responded to my last couple of messages, I asked someone else who has released some sensational work for Pin2DMD's to cast an eye over it and they have advised that they'd approach it differently and if they were to help out they would start from scratch. Their advice is actually to do things the opposite way to what I was advised when I first started the project. When I put that as a summary it sounds nasty but I assure you it wasn't said in a nasty way. I'm a bit up in the air with this at the moment... not sure which way to go but hopefully the person that took over is progressing.
  6. So.... is colourising the Ghostbusters DMD for a Pin2DMD a possibility either through Pinball Browser or Pin2DMD Editor or is it not something that can be done at the moment?
  7. Someone else has taken this project and working through what DJRobX suggested plus some extra parts. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with it.
  8. I find that the load time is very long too. I think that it would be great if it was possible to shorten the load time.
  9. A quick update... DJRobX has spent a good chunk of time working through issues I was having and explaining how to fix things that he hasn't fixed for me. The guy is a champion and a machine. I still have to find time to get back to this... not sure when at the moment I'll find time but I'll try to shove other things out of the way to make this happen. Unfortunately some of the work I'd done was to no avail as limitations of the Pin2DMD Editor won't allow the scenes to be displayed as I wanted.
  10. We don't have a Visual Pinball table to test with do we?
  11. I am not at my cab at the moment but you should be able to use the latest .dll from Lucky or the latest Freezy .dll
  12. I now have this working. I grabbed a dll from someone that had it working and away it went. Not sure why the one I was using didn't work (was the latest from the GitHub page) but it's working now.
  13. I'm actually in the same situation as you. The latest everything and the table crashes with the colourisation.
  14. Do you have the latest firmware and .dll for your pin2dmd?
  15. I haven't touched this for a while now... real life got busy, and I need time to learn how to do keyframes. Once I understand keyframes this project should be able to be finished but I don't think it will be a quick process.
  16. Hey @MrTantrum I don't seem to see the "everyone say no to drugs" scene anywhere. I assume you grabbed it from attracted mode but I am unsure why it doesn't seem to play for me. Does it not come up often, or possibly you have a different ROM version.
  17. I recorded a video of me playing a game (it went for a while) so that you can see the colourisation in action. The problem is that some of the things don't work properly. I am assuming most of it is to do with KeyFrame problems so I might ask Lucky1 for some help with that. I think there are only a couple more scenes to record and colour and I'm almost done... that is until the way of doing the video mode is released. The scenes that I needed to use masking aren't working at all (the cars going across the screen) but I have tried to mask it and invert the masking in case I had done it wrong so perhaps that is a key frame problem too.
  18. Thought I'd provide an update. I have now completed a few of the Burn Rubber scenes but still have a few to go, and probably still need to capture a couple more. I need to then do the masking for the cars crossing the screen and fix some Key Frames (when I get to that I might ask for some help). At that point I'd be ready for someone to explain to me how I could possibly colourise the Video Mode. It's been a long process and I haven't had much spare time lately but I am trying to do a little each night so that it still progresses.
  19. I haven't had a lot of time to work on this recently but I will work on it whenever I get a chance. It is taking a long time, and I'd like it to be finished so I can share it but there is still a lot to do.
  20. Doing it on a VPin means I can just use a USB, if my VPin was on my network it would be even easier.
  21. I can't see the YouTube video, it says video unavailable. I know much of it isn't working, you asked for a copy of it as is and I sent it but it is far from being ready. As you say, ball launch, free ride, 1st ball lock, kickback all work. Burn rubber should be at least the right palette colours but not with the "additional" colours for the most part. There are a couple I haven't captured as yet. For the Lambo & police car wipes I haven't yet completed the masking therefore they don't work yet. I am coming back to that as I need to learn a bit more about how it works. The tunnel shot is one that I haven't worked out what is going on with as yet. I don't know if I need to redo it. I did it as a colour mask but am wondering if replacing would be a better solution. I think Donut Heaven colours are correct when I test them on the VPin. The biggest problems with things not working as far as I know are setting key frames. If I understand it correctly, they need to be set to a unique frame and problems can occur if a "replace" method frame repeats. Other issues can be masking. In any case, I am still a long way from complete on my project and have been spending time with other (non pinball) projects as well. I do want to see this project completed though.
  22. I considered snow caps and wasn't sure about adding green for all of the scenes where the mountain is in the background but decided not to do it as I wasn't sure how good it would end up looking. I haven't really noticed the ghosting when running in the game, it is noticeable in the gifs obviously, but as you say, it would mean using the replace method to get rid of it... which if I don't work out why it doesn't work properly might be something else I try anyway.
  23. What do you mean by, " I went with blue police since original does"? I went with Black and White as that is what is on the backglass. What are you referring to when you say the original? The ColorDMD version or something else? I like your idea or using 504 however I think the scene needs to be done using a mask and therefore you won't be able to add the number.
  24. Here are some other scenes I have worked on. The Burn Rubber scene isn't finished however you can see what I am working on with it and the part that is unfinished shows the basic palette colours I've chosen. The Helicopter scene doesn't play correctly during game play yet.
  25. Hey there @MrTantrum after starting my colourisation I read through your thread on Pinside and all of the dramas and didn't know where you'd end up with it but I had already sunk hours into mine so figured I'd keep going (although I haven't had much time to do it since Christmas). I am planning on sharing it once completed. I am unsure of a way to merge or share our work to help each other complete it. I don't think it is possible, I was hoping that a version of the editor would be released that allowed this. I would love to be able to have some help colourising especially the Burn Rubber scenes as they are long. I am using a mask to do those (although I haven't completed the first one yet) but it is a slow, mind numbing process. If there is a way to share the workload, I am more than happy to go that way but I was of the understanding there is no way to bring two projects together. Your colourising looks good. You have chosen different colour to me on the police cars, I have been working more on Black and White whereas you have used blue. How have you done the cars driving from side to side as you don't have score details etc showing? Did you use the colour replace method or a masking? My guess is that you have used replace which I don't think will work in the real application but am happy to be proven wrong. I really have no idea how to get the video mode coloured as every time it is played it is different, so knowing how to capture it and colour it doesn't make sense to me.
